Hi, I received my V13 a week ago, I'm thrilled by its design but I have one big concern. I read a lots of reviews and most of them said it wasn't a hot laptop.
Mine feels a bit hot, and after a few hours it feels even more. I used the program Everest to check the temperatures and got this.

    Temperature at start.

    Processor: 99°F (37°C)
    HDD: 81°F (27°C)

    Temperature after one hour:

    Processor: 111°F (44°C)
    HDD: 88°F (31°C)

    Temperature after 3 hours.

    Processor: 124°F (51°C)
HDD: I didn't check, i was most concerned about the processor.

Do you think I have a problem? Should I contact Dell? In the last scenario it starts to feel uncomfortably hot. Like my former XPS1210, and it wasn't a ULV processor.

51°C is not hot for a CPU temperature but, if the overall chassis temperature is getting uncomfortably hot then that is cause for concern. First check whether you have the latest version of the BIOS because Dell often tweak the rules defining the fan operation in the BIOS updates. The fan operation is a compromise between fan noise and keeping the computer cool.

I'm from Brunei. I bought my Vostro V13 a week ago. One thing I notice, built-in mobile broadband is not available in my region. So, my only solution is to ask my friend from US to purchase for me. My question is, how to install the kit in Vostro V13? Service Manual only discribe the SIM card. Is the SIM Card holder attached to the mobile broadband kit?

Chalk me up as a member of the cracked screen club.

I have owned 6 Laptops over the years (4 of which were Dell) and I am EXTREMELY CAREFUL with my stuff. I typically sell my laptops every 2-3 years for about half of what I originally paid for them and then upgrade. I keep the original Dell boxes, disks etc... I take very good care of my things.

The laptop was not mistreated in any way, the screen cracked in the upper left hand corner when I was at home opening the lid (with both hands as I always do). I heard a very quiet muffled crack sound and that was it.

I'm sorry but there is definitely a build defect of some kind on these units.

So I just broke the screen on my v13. I hate this weather in the Mid-West...anyway, does anyone know of a reputable place I might be able to purchase a replacement screen besides Dell and eBay? Thanks!

internal 3g modem is not available in my area(Brunei). But, I manage to find a PROLINK Internal 3G modem locally. It fits nicely. But.....
after installing the thing. The machine wont let me boot in. Is the V13 locked to a Dell brand 3G modem only?

I'll be trying my luck with a screen from Ebay sometime soon. I'll post my review of the replacement screen after my purchase. They seem to be going for around $150 or so on Ebay and there is no way I'm going to spend more than that on this laptop considering the lid is so flimsy.
