I am going to get a V13 to take with me on the road.

After looking thru various DELL V13 sites, Canada, Australia, Singapore, HongKong, and China to be exact, it seems pretty obvious that the Celeron m743 + Ubuntu + 5400rpm hdd version is mass produced.
But when you look at the higher configuration on cpu as well as the inclusion of Win O.S, the drive type turns to 7200rpm.

Price wise, seems that China have the best deal of all.
    Using the SU3500 + Win O.S + 320gb 7200rpm hdd as reference, China wins with Win7 32bit Professional + 15mths Norton Free Subscription.
I'm wondering, and doubting, with such combination of 7200rpm(although bind with Win O.S), how long can the 6cell internal battery last?

I expect something between 3 and 4 hours, that's good enough for me.

You should get more than that.....we're getting 5-6 hours with the Vostro 1220 and p8600 2.4 cpu's and above....one guy got 7 hours with wifi off.

Ur 12inch screen might cut off some current consumption in comparison to the v13 13incher.
In addition, with your Pxxxx(speedstep jumps in) C2d cpu + 6cell batt. more power could be minimized.
I was wondering, ur 5-6hr operation is it base on practical usage, such as wireless on surfing with 50% brightness or just simple document editing with 70% brightness setting. I assume that the type of hdd drive that came into ur system is 5400rpm?

Your assumption is wrong, the Vostro 1220 comes with 7200rpm hard drive, and in my case, 500GB in capacity!

So the P8600, a much more powerful CPU actually consume less energy than the one in the V13?

If screen size is a factor, the difference between a 12.1 inch and a 13 inch might translate into 15-30 min of battery life, but a 2-3 hours difference? unlikely!
