AUO is an LCD screen manufacturer. WXGA+ is used to describe an LCD screen that has 1440x900 resolution.

It's dreaded because there are reports that is is "grainy" or "sparkly" and people seem to hate it enough to want to exchange/return it. I have the said AUO WXGA+ screen (on a vostro 1400) and the "graininess" doesn't bother me as much as the poor vertical viewing angles and the glossy reflection. But I'm willing to put up with both of those "problems" to get the 1440x900 resolution. IMO, it's not a terrible screen and more than usable for everyday tasks, and the glossiness does make things look better as long as you're in a dimly lit room w/o reflections...... but compared to a decent desktop screen, it isn't very good.

I just got mine (Vostro 1500) Yesterday and I just love it.. Switched from an old Inspiron.... I can really see the difference now.

and I just installed the Vista Customization pack, whoever sees it thinks I got Vista.. and Above all, it does not slow it down at ALL.

I don't know what's going on with the screens problems, but mine is just Shiny and Awsome

    i Just ordered a Dell Vostro 1400 today (1.6ghz/2gb/120gb/wxga+/8400mgs)!!

Dell says the estimated ship date is Dec 3.

Is that accurate or can I expect one sooner?

just got my 1500 yesterday, love it so far. I wish they would've offered XP with the 1400 when I'd ordered it a few weeks ago, but overall I am not disappointed, I'll stick with the slightly larger / heavier 1500. very nice machine esp. for the price! cost me $870+tax with extras like XP Pro, XGA+ Truelife screen, Bluetooth, 160GB (60/100 partition), and 9-cell. very pleased

So I'm new around here. I just ordered my Vostro 1500 two days ago and I'm pumped! This will be my first laptop, I've had the same Dell desktop for four years now and it's served me well but...it's time to move up and out. I'm getting kinda nervous though, it seems when people have problems they have serious problems. Like, doesn't work straight out of the box kinda problems. Hope nothing major happens. Is anyone experiencing delays? It says expected ship date 12/3 but who knows, right? I'd like to get it before Christmas!

Also, the link to the Vostro 1500 on this forrum takes you to a review for an Acer computer. Wonky.
