Mine just shipped today! I ordered it Friday the 23rd of November and the estimated ship date was the 30th! They sent it earlier than estimated and the estimated arrival date bumped up 7 days, from December 7th to November the 30th! To those of you who hate the wait you might get lucky like me!

Ques 1 The X1300 should surfice well for the task mentioned and I don't beleive that the problem with the video playback arrised from the power of the card the codecs that WMP is using is more likely the cause of the issue in this case I would recomend getting secondary Video playback sofware such as VLC I have used it in the past and it has served me well.

Ques 2 You heard correct judgeing by the tasks you plan to use the notebook for upgradeing to 4GB of ram will not be worth it not to mention the fact the Vista32bit will not be able use all the 4GB.

Ques 3 The S Video will probably be claerer than the VGA when using an external monitor but that I think is a matter of personal preferance so I suggest you try both to see which you like better.

I hope this helps ypu in your decisions.

I hope this was a typo because VGA out will be MUCH MUCH clearer than s-video out, not to mention it supports much higher resolutions! This is assuming your TV or external display has a VGA input of course.

My mouse came separate, so I'm guessing your stuff will come the same way.

Just an update on mine, everthing seams to be working well for my first notebook. I have a home network set up and transfered files, docs, pictues on to the Vostro thru the network. I still have yet to figure out how to get my email address and messages.

For everone waiting on thier Vostro, I had mine in a week from the day I ordered on the phone with our company rep.

I just ordered the Vostro 1400

    1.4ghz intel C2D
    2 gb RAM
    160 gb HD
    intel graphics
    wsxga 14"
    Vista home basic

    total out to $594.31 shipped.
Should be here in a couple weeks I hope.

No gaming here. Just school work and adobe PS.

Do the Vostros come with a restore disc? I read on another forum, they do not include a Vista disc so you lose it if you go back to XP.
