I am new to forum, but I have a VOSTRO 1720 which is nice with all the perks..BUT after just purchasing it in March, 2010, I am for some reason having problems/pop-up messages:Corruption detected in featureManager, backup file loaded AND problem with screen blacking out as I use it, but I don't lose whatever I am working on, but I do get a desktop graphic accelerator problem message.

Anyone familiar with these problems in DELL? I am in school and hate to send it back to DELL cause classes start again 7/19/10...I need my system! HELP PLEZ!

Use normally. The newer lithium ion batteries dont need to be cycled.

    Just got a batch of Vostro 3500's. i3-370M/4GB/320GB/Win7Pro 64bit/BT 365/Dell 1501 WLAN/1366x768 display/Intel GMA HD

    First impressions:
    - screen is not very bright
    - screen viewing angles (both horz & vert) are not good, although backlighting is even so there are not any dark corners
    - when the fan comes on, it makes an annoying whine sound
edit: now that I've got the system configured the way I want and fully updated, the fan remains on constantly even at idle, a low level hum.
    - build quality seems solid enough otherwise
    - palmrests and underside of laptop remain cool to the touch
