Ugh, yes, you need to go enable S3 to get the old power settings back. (I'll definitely be doing that, can't live without those...)

Are the broken clips on the bottom cover or the chassis? If bottom cover they would probably send you a new one.

Putting it at 99% instead of 100% disables turbo boost (unless the power slider is all of the way on the right setting "Best performance"). Instead of ramping up to 5+ GHz, the CPU will not clock above 2.6/2.7 GHz. This will cut down CPU power usage / heat / fan noise. You don't need turbo boost for a light workload.

Not something that I necessarily advocate for everyone, but if you prefer not to have the fans ramping up unnecessarily or otherwise want to cut the CPU's power usage down, it's something that you could try out. The power slider provides an easy way to re-engage turbo boost when its needed. You could also script it with this tool I released just this past weekend.

    • June 24: I placed an order for a 7560. The original estimated ship date was August 3rd, with an estimated delivery date of August 6th
    • June 30: The status on the order page changed to Entered Production
    • July 4: Dell delivered shipping documents to FedEx and FedEx assigned a tracking number
    • July 10: Email arrived notifying me that the system had shipped and the status on the order page on Dell's site changed to "Shipped" but the estimated delivery date remained August 6th
    • July 16: Dell finally transferred the box containing my 7560 to FedEx
    • July 16: FedEx changed the estimated delivery date from "Pending" to Sunday, July 18th

Yes, it's from the bottom of the chassis. The screws do a good enough job of holding the bottom cover in place so I think I will avoid the hassle of getting a new bottom panel. I will definitely ask for a new one if it gives me trouble.
It's unfortunate that these systems are less than ideal to be taken apart multiple times.
