I have had several Dell laptops and never had a problem with the keyboard.
I agree that you should call to get the keyboard replaced if it's not something physical with the key.

Have you had the overheating and downclocking problem or is it just something you have read about here? Not everyone is experiencing those problems (then again, not everyone is playing crisis for hours on end ;))

What is the weight of the M4400 130W AC power adapter?

Anyone know the weight of the D820 90W AC power adapter?

    Thanks.

Agree...I don't get 'downclocking' which to me would be caused by overheating on other units. This one stays cool after hours of gaming. Have you called tech support and requested a MB change?

What kind of games are you playing and at what settings? It's hard to believe you don't downclock after I've gone through 3 of them that do. Run Bioshock on native resolution at maxed out settings for an hour or two. I guarantee you won't feel the same way about the M4400. Downclocking is inevitable, because, your M4400 is built the same way as mine, so your cooling can't be magically better.

I knew you'd say those types of the games, =/. Don't do my recommendation above if you want to stay happy with your system.

i havent played bioshock, but i dint realise the M4400 could play it at native rez and settings on high..lol..

btw i played medal of honor airborne at high settings, dint get any downclocking...its a reasonably demanding game, not as bad as crysis but stilll...

MOHA is about the same exact as COD4, releasing approximately 1 month apart in 2007, but the textures aren't as demanding as Bioshock. The M4400 does fine for the first 30 minutes and then crumbles, even if I lift the back.

i'll try bioshock and report back. i think you may have just been unlucky. because i played MOHA on the bed, remember when i posted saying my temps went up to 99*c?

dint get any downclocking.....the high temps was cos of dust in my vent and also the fact i was playing on the bed.

i got downclocking on bios A06/A09 though.

    im fine with bios A03

I bought my m4400 when I read your post with your first impressions and photos. It's sad to see how that excitement has dwindled over time. Going through 3 systems can't be much fun.

I think it's sad that such a hot piece of technology is handicapped by a mediocre cooling design. Still, most people will never have to deal with those issues as they don't game or do hard core 3d rendering.

I am not much of a gamer but will eventually put some games on here and see how this thing runs. Frankly, I don't think my gaming sessions will last long enough for me to suffer downclocking since I get motion sickness after about an hour of FPS gaming.

What I do enjoy is having photoshop cs3 boot in under 4 seconds and have adobe premiere handle video editing and rendering with ease.

I think you will be much happier with your new desktop computer and all of the overclocking that awaits it ;).

For people like me that travel a lot and need to carry their offices and their entertainment centers in their back pack, the M4400 seems to be one of the better choices out there.

That being said, I am always glad to see you chime in on here as I find your comments and advice always insightful and helpful.
