Lol...no screw for modular bay here either...it's pretty secure anyway but it just looks weird like there should be something there ;)

    @El
on the right side of your lappy next to the headphone uotput there's a wifi catcher and a wireless switch, just an easy way to switch off any wifi connections when in a plane or trying to save battery.

Here's the link for the driver installation. It looks kinda general though. What i did is make a list and figure out what is what exactly, numbered all the updates/driver in the order they had to be installed and only then ran 'em all.
Takes a bit of figuring out

Well...like said earlier...if there was an actual manual printed with the M4400 i would've read it...maybe...lol. There wasn't any kind of documentation when i received mine but i guess the could say they're doing what they can to cut down paper usage etc. If i'd really need it i can always print it out, i don't mind

Yeah, no documentation with mine either... But paper documentation is usually outdated anyway.

well.....yeah, pretty much. And if your audio playback has pops/crackles...that's the weirdest prob so far i think....no 1 cause for it and different solutions work for different systems....i had it but not anymore and no idea how i fixed it...lol

i got a paper manual with mine. its not as "impressive" as my old inspiron 8600 manual though. that manual was like a proper paperback book lol..

ok, so my new replacement seagate drive dosent make as much noise as the first relacement seagate drive i got, but its still a heck of a lot noisier than the samsung in my original m4400. i think i;l be keeping the samsung.

thers really no competition.its clearly louder even with the latest firmware

I'm considering getting an M4400 from the outlet store, but the screen and dvd burner problems worry me a little.

Will the warranty take care of it, should I end up with a grainy screen?
    I would get the 15.4" WXGA+ WLED Back-lit display (1440x900).

Hi guys, guess I'll be joining this lounge soon.

ordered an M4400 yesterday. 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, quadro fx770, wxga+ LED, 9 cell, backlit keyboard, webcam, etc. at roughly $800 using the 15% off coupon :)

in all honesty I wanted the E6400, prefered the 14" form factor and the latitude lid.. but the M4400 deal was just too good and I wanted a video card that was more powerful than the Nvidia 160m in the E6400.

These computers are not domestic products. They are business class machines. On the good side, they are built rugged and are made to take more abuse than the average laptop.

The bad side of it is that they are sold with the belief that the person on the receiving end is a computer technician who will configure the computer with the needed software and proper settings. Once configured properly, it is given to the employee.

This belief is probably the reason why there is less literature or bells and whistles than you would find in their home consumer products.

Then again, if you buy the new macbook pro from apple you get the same thing.

The screw is not necessary. It is nice to have if you are afraid your kid will pull out the drive, tho. ;)
