Tried that. I ended up going back to the older version of the driver which seems to work properly.

    Dears,

My AC adaptor (the brick) makes a bit sound when I get power. It sounds like second hand of watch. I asked DELL to exchange it , the new one does the same. write me about yours.

When does the forth light (from left to right on top of keyboard) turn on?

What does the buttomn near wireless switch do? the shape of it is like .)))

    regards

The 4th light is bluetooth...if you don't have BT this will never light up.

The button is a wifi catcher...it will look for available networks when pressed, the switch will turn off any wireless connections including BT (though you can configure this in BIOS)

    Hello all,

Got my m4400 today and unfortunately it has the known issues people have talked about here:

    1) audio stutter - and it goes away as reported previously by others if I disable the eSata port. Has anyone properly resolved this yet through any combo of driver / bios updates?

    2) the fan is on constantly - I don't think it's stopped blowing since I turned the thing on. Temps are completely normal (CPU 25 C, GPU 53 C). The fan is not blowing hard - it's very quiet most of the time, but it's definitely always running. Am I right in thinking that it should actually completely stop when the temps are down? I hear most people saying to install an old BIOS to fix this ... is that still the best solution? Is it really the right thing to do (aren't they fixing other stuff with these BIOS updates that might be important???)

    Thanks for any advice!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Install intel storage manager, maybe a version from december2008, they work fine for me.

If you have Vista + Intel WIFI inactivate all WIFI-modes you don't need.

    Regarding the fan:
Use dell stock GPU drivers + Bios A03/A09

dont use i8kfangui for temp-meassurung but speedfan or something like that

Try to reset you fan by hitting "Fn" + "Y" together (QWERTZ layout, for QWERTY you may hit "Fn" + "Z").

If that doesn't help you might try an older Bios, like Lexi suggested.

Well I think the overheating problem seems to have been solved - I set my 1700M to 700/900/1500 and got 6071 in 3DMark06 with a maximum temperature of 74 degrees. Crysis doesn't seem to get the temps more than 69 degrees.

I've also found that although the stuttering/popping audio is present, it seems to vanish completely about 2 mins after start-up and doesn't return.

Apart from that, I'd just enjoy your new lappie! ;)
