yeah,my last 4 notebook's had glossy screen's,can't really say I prefer one over the other, both have their advantage's,and neither make a bad screen look good.

Hope you get a good run out of Goren, like I have.:)

    PS.anybody after a new 9 cell battery,have a brand new unopened replacement from dell,that I'm not going to use because I ordered a 6 cell...pm me.

when dell swapped mine they said i could keep my old 9 cell and hard drive as well :)

so now i have 2 hard drives and 2 9 cells. i suppose it softens the inconvenience of needing to have the system replaced

Lucky you!...dell want's my old 9 cell back and keep ringing up every couple of day's to see if I've sent it back....which I haven't,and they can wait until I get my 6 cell as well, considering they took two week's and 4 email's to actually acknowledge my warranty claim and do something about it.

any one recommend a sleeve that can accommodate the 9 cell?
I personally would've preferred one that sat flush but it came with the 9 cell anyways :)

I'm hoping they'll tell me the same... I asked them to give me a 6-cell instead of a 9-cell in my replacement (I hate the protruding battery, I keep thinking I'm going to break it off), but it'd be nice to have the 9-cell on hand for the longer battery life those rare times it's actually needed.

i actually like the look of the protruding 9 cell.

on the thinkpads its not symmetrical and on other notebooks protruding batteries look like a tumor....

i think dell's options are pretty nicely designed, small touches like the angled back end looks uniform with the hinges etc...

:| its so big and solid how on earth can you feel like its gonna snap off???

am i the only one who's had people make comments about my precision looking really good lol?

The one thing that really disappoints me about the whole range of new dell laptops is how they look ... going from my old I8600 to the M4400 is like stepping out of a lamborghini into a tank. Now it happens I'm happy to have a tank because it literally crushes everything in it's path, but wow, I do miss having something that actually looked stylish from time to time. It does feel and look sturdy .... I reckon I could use my M4400 to jack up my car and it wouldn't get a scratch ... it'd probably put a dent in the car :)

It amuses me to think what Steve Jobs would make of an M4400 ... I reckon it might just finish him off if one of his minions surprised him with it in a new product line. Where apple goes nutso trying not to have unnecessary seams or latches or screws Dell seems to have added them all over the place just for the fun of it.

And no, nobody has told me it looks nice so far :)

thats odd, like you i upgraded from a i8600, and frankly i prefer the m4400

the i8600/i8500 chassis was very stylish, and the ones that replaced it were quite crap until recently.

but on the business side of things, i feel the latitude E series style is slightly better than the D series, which was very inspiron 8600-esque

the most common thing i've heard about my m4400 was that it looks "impressive"

i've had a few girls run their fingers over it LOL! the rippleback makes them curious and when you open it they think it looks good inside
