For the sound issue....loads of different possibilities,

first...uninstall the ID-T drivers and let Vista automatically install it's built-in drivers, this will probably fix it.

if not...download dpc latency checker and tell me what that shows.
I had latency spikes all the time but they vanished after disabling my DVD (modular bay) in BIOS
Other "fixes" for crackling/skipping audio are: Disabling WLAN, disabling eSATA, errr....couple of other solutions but i cant remember, try a search on the forum, also for the latitude because these probs are shared.

Hopefully the drivers solves it for you

Search for my user name. I've posted quite a few times the problems I ran into.

    Bottom line.
HP Small biz support is TERRIBLE.

    HP-
-I wanted to run raid with 2 hard drives(1 in the bay), this functionality died in 2 days.
-The fan would click alot (ok i could have replaced it)

Hp has a better keyboard, better trackpad, better build.

Dell has a docking station with dual dvi =). I use dual lcds and that's a big deal.

Aslong as you find one that works well, np. But for the mean time I can't buy or recommend hp products to small companies. or individual users.
