Sorry guys but the M6400 does NOT have an additional extended life battery beyond the current 9 cell battery that is already offered and it does NOT have a battery slice. It only has the one battery that it comes with. You can order additional 9 cell batteries if needed.
And by the way Intoxicate, Dell does not use the MXM graphics card on the M6400. The graphics cards on the the M6400 are of a custom design.

    Thanks Mano.
Somehow there appears to be a mistake then on the website, it shows 6,9 (cell), and battery slice as compatible. I believe then only 9cell is correct

btg123, that is correct. Only the 9 cell battery is correct. I will look into any errors on the site. Sorry for any confusion.

Yeah, battery life is not a major selling point on this monster. I am putting together another dirt cheap, 15.4" Quad Core, PM45 laptop for on the go use, as outside of site (Desk/Dock) to home (Eurodesk) and back, I can't really see taking the M6400 to, let's say Starbucks, Borders, pool side, a friend's house to sit back and chill let alone kick back in bed to code and DVR catch up.

The fun part will be trying to construct a 15.4" Quad Core laptop for $1000. ;)

Yes. And that was all I thought chipset was. Chipset = two chips. Before this day. Looks like all my life I was wrong.

North bridge you mean. I understood.

In picture before you showed me x3100 in notebook. Big thanks. Really. x3100 has square almost equal to chipset's square (its north bridge if to be honest)) ). Can you show me any detailed picture of desktop GXX-motherboard containing xXX00 graphic chip which square almost equal to north bridge square? I can't find it. :-( That's why I thought that chipset it's two chips (north, south).

    For example: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/ViewImage.aspx?ProductID=2877
It's Gigabyte's G45 mother. Where is separate x4500HD chip? I just wonna find out, that's all.

    P.S. Quite interesting, isn't it.. }-)

Could you give more info on the 130W AC that works with the M6400. I want to order the correct 130W for travelling. Thanks.

Just returned from 11 days in Panama and my M6400 was waiting for me having arrived two weeks early.

    Absolutely gorgeous!

But all I've had time to do so far were all the Vista (Ultimate 64-bit) updates. One update did cause BSD but after two reboots it was okay.

BUT ... I just used battery power and there is a high-pitched noise that changes in pitch as one uses the machine (it not present at all with AC power). It is at the high frequency edge for human hearing. Of course this varies from person to person but I have above average hearing and it is a problem. Others posted on this some time ago. Did it go away? Was there a fix?
    Thanks.
