Dell has refused to cross-ship me the standard M6400 to make up for 12 sales reps telling me the Covet was a matte screen (before pics existed). If they had played along, I might have had pics... Now I'm looking at the HP 8730 or Lenovo W700.

Does anyone out there have the Matte LED RGB Screen?

A quick review and some photo's would be most welcomed :)

    Regards,
    Simon

A solution I've used on other (m6300) laptops with acres of palmrest is take one of those gel filled wrist protectors that are built with an external keyboard in mind and lay it across the bottom of your palm rest. The one I use sticks out 1 1/2 inch on each side but that's no problem. It not only saves my watch and the finish on the palmrest, it also insulates you from any bit of discomfort the palm rest may give you and keeps your wrists and inch or so above the palm rest. It's a solution that may sound strange but in practice it's perfect. (for me anyway)

I can see doing that Gulf. Funny, since I use those type of palm rests for rear unit elevation. :)

I mean using integrated x4500 instead of nvidia quadro. Not at the same time like in hybrid mode. Just plug off nvidia and using Q43 graphics (x4500). Any ideas, is it possible?

I've understood what you mean ;)
but unfortunately the M6400 has no integrated X4500 graphics, just the NVidia chip.

Hmm.. M6400 has Q43 Express chipset (north bridge) which contains Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X4500: http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/chipsets/q43/q43-overview.htm like G41, G43.
Is NVidia installed like discrete graphics card to special slot or it is a special chip on mainboard?

I agree with you 100%. I prefer most hook ups on the rear of the machine with maybe 1 or 2 USB on the side if needed. The move to most connections to the sides is not a plus, imho.

Maybe they figure that most will utilize the docking station and therefore in order to make the on-board connectors available -- there are none on the back. Just a thought!

I actually like it, I appreciate no connectors on the front, I think the back is clean and the heatsinks on the back are really cool looking. If I want to plug that much in I will buy a dock.
