    Hey MG,

It don't know if it is XP64 related, but unfortunately for me my home computer has to be set up to mimic my work environment, because I do a lot of work from home. We use various 2D and 3D art packages with a ton of custom scripts and tools. We tend to have compatibility problems between XP and Vista.

    Thanks for running the test.

Looks like my 3rd one has a memory problem. BUT without the diagnostics telling me so I would not have known as everything is very smooth.

By the way I posted instructions on how to activate hibernate in the other thread.

    Barn,

Thanks very much for your reply.
Tried all combinations I could think of with no joy.
The scan does register that it has one controller and 2 devices - it just never flashes the 2nd device!!

Am going to change these drives out for the 500GB ones when they arrive in the UK so can flash them seperately once they are out of the raid array before slotting them into portable drive caddies.

    Thanks again for your help

Hi, I just got my M6400 today and I have a couple of questions.

    1. Is it normal for the boot screen to take SO LONG. When I first turn the machine on and get the Dell logo it takes maybe about 3-5 minutes for the progress bar to finish and to progress beyond the load screen.

    2. I was told one of the first things to do is to install the latest BIOS. Mine says A03. Is that the latest one?

    Thank you.

1.- Most of us, including me, the very first boot always takes long, specially, if you change memory or hard drive, but after that first boot, all others just take few seconds, unless you activate a full memory test in bios.

2.- Yes, A03 is the latest bios.
