Not much help I know - but I have a similar spec, but with the FX2700m and am running Vista 64 - but I have no problems at all - using either WMP or VideoLan - playing either full length avi files or DVDs from the DVD player.

Could be XP64 related? Just guessing though.

This seems like a Video Card Drivers Issue
My Dell M6300 shipped with Nvidia Drivers that are so buggy that things like this (Pixel fragments) are also apears in games

Changed to a driver from http://laptopvideo2go.com now everything is fine without Problems, but i t takes time to find out the right driver.

Take a look at this Site and its Forum, a lot of knowledge is seed within there and they have a lot of Nvidia Drivers for XP 64Bit also.

    Good luck
    Christopher

    Intoxicate,

You had asked me how the colours are in the RGBLED mat screen.
They are very good and very vivid. Blacks are blacks.
I believe it is one of the best mat screens I have ever seen.

I suffer ofcourse from the small red-green distortion that all the RGBLED screens have.

I havent decided yet if I will dual boot it with Linux or if I will install Linux via VMware, but if I do the latter I will also install Win7 through VMware and take pictures side by side.

BIOS AO1 gave false negative problems: "Fixed PSA LCD EDID test fail with Nvidia G92 video card."

BIOS AO2 gave memory hang problems.

BIOS AO3 fixed above and other problems. But now I think AO3 may be giving false negative memory test failure.

If you have a stable M6400 with AO3 and no problems whatsoever could you run the hardware diagostics (hold Fn on power up) and run ALL the memory tests.
    Specifically I'm interested in:
"Error Code 2000-0123 Memory integrity test failed."

    Thanks.

Any pros and cons on using TPM?

By the way I noticed the broadcom security hub update lists M6400 and M6500. Anyone heard anything on a M6500?

Thanks a lot guys. I'll look into an alternative driver. Does anyone here have any recommendations?

Also, it's an old issue I know, but did anyone manage to find a fix for the sound glitch issue (the one that affects system sounds like the startup jingle etc)? My machine suffers from that.
