I have not tried x32 OS, I've done nothing special for the installation, just choose that drive as the target drive during setup and that's it.

I see Dell updated a lot of their ControlPoint software today. Who's brave enough to try it and see if it's worth it? :D

I've installed it. It works better for me than previously (and it also supports my WiFi card now).

I came home from work last night to find my new M6400 waiting for me...so that was cool. I've been shopping around for a long time and finally decided that this was what I wanted. I like everything about it EXCEPT the front and side edges that cut into my wrists. Is it just me, or have others in the forum had to work around this? Pretty minor complaint, I know, but it was kind of a disappointing discovery. Thanks.

There's been a fair number of posts from people that suffer the same problem. Maybe it's because I have a Zalman cooling pad under it, with the back raised up a bit and in a normal typing position my wrists don't even touch the front edge or the corners. But I think the touchpad is a bit far left becuase when I'm typing really fast sometimes my left palm pushes one of the two button arrays for the same touchpad. I completly don't understand the button thing and the second set of them right below the space bar. But if that is bothering me I lay a desktop gel filled wrist protector across the bottom of the case and then no matter your typing style it's impossible to come in contact with any part of the case.

All right, I've decided to not reinstall XP 64 as I havent been able to find reason to do so; just gonna do an online update. Anyone know what things I should NOT update ? I recall seeing some warning here on something that should not be updated...

Maybe this will sound interesting to anybody concerned by high idle temperatures of the GPU (notably the 3700M).

I've just replaced my 179.XX series drivers with 182.05 DOX optimized (balanced profile).
The driver build is newer than 185.20 and they didn't give me any problem so far while 185.20 were a no-go.

So far my GPU idle temperatures range from 48°C to 52°C. Previously they where like 50°C to 60°C, with the fan constantly kicking in.

So cooler GPU and less noise so far ;)

BTW: My OS is Windows VISTA 32bit.

Bah! I tried these on Vista 64 and I get those white lines/faded image still. I wish I could find an updated driver that I could actually use!

I've had your exact same problem with 185.20 drivers.
Luckily 182.05 are ok for me, but as i said i own Vista 32bit.

    Wish you luck.
