If it doesn't say 'silver' it's a Covet (or at least with the Covet case and all the Covet specs -3700 vid, slot load, edge to edge. But if you search for 'burnt orange' or 'orange' it says there are none. Mine was the only one that didn't say 'silver' and in watching it since every one that doesn't list a color has Covet stuff. I'd also swear mine had never even been turned on.[/QUOTE]

not to dampen your spirits but all systems in dell are switched on as the software is reloaded also on any returned system.
And more than likely someone just forgot to put the colour in..they always do that...just don't get your hopes up too high.

I am wondering about the operating temperatures of the M6400. My hardware has: QX9300, 3700M, WIFI, bluetooth, dual hard drives, and 8 Gb RAM.
On the average, the highest temperatures I've seen are: video card in the upper 60s (i.e. 68), CPU in the mid. 50s (i.e. 53-55), and the chipset runs in the mid. 60s. I use EVEREST Ultimate.
Do these numbers seem normal to everyone?
Thank you much in advance for any input.

I also have a quad core (q9100) which even runs hotter than the qx9300 (less GHz, but the qx9300 uses better components).

During full load I get the cpu to 55° and the gpu to 70°... So your temps seems to be normal.

    Silver.
All through Dell. Standard factory config. Did not change a thing. Running smoothly.

    Cheers.

Anyone know why Powermaximizer doesn't work under Vista?

Anyone getting know how to put their FX3600M into a low power mode with Vista?

Anyone getting over 2hrs on battery with quad core and FX3600M?

I forgot to mention that I had a little cooler with a small fan to get those temperatures.
If I raised the back up about half an inch and no cooler, the GPU can get as high as 73, chipsets in the upper 60s, and the CPU around mid to upper 50s.
My main concern is: what will be considered as getting too hot? I don't want this to die prematurely.
