Sarcasm can be a one way street when the other driver doesn't know you are driving down it. Sooner or later an accident will happen.

I am as chill as they come trust me :) It would take a LOT to get my knickers in a twist. Glad it worked out for you.

YOU ARE WELCOME. Now that we got that out of the way. Tell Dell to play nice with Windows 7 and Sleep :)

With the latest BIOS, Win 7 now recognizes the ALS natively as a sensor. Speaking of PCMCIA, has anyone tried the SB Audigy 2 ZS? I inserted it and got a chain of BSODs, followed by Windows no longer recognizing any of my network adapters - had to do an in-place repair install just to get back online!

    hey all,

    I have a M6400 since a couple of months.

A while ago I installed GTA IV and I noticed that my GPU temperature rises until about 68°C. (haven't tested the temperature while rendering,....). But I wondered if such a high temperature could damage my system because next to the GPU temperature in the testing-tool (SpeedFan) it indicates a little flame.

    thx,

    Floriaan

SpeedFan is a load of crap...temps are at least 15c out...use CPUtemp...much better and more accurate.

I consider exchanging my desktop for one of these
I heard the build quality isnt that excellent
I need the best build quality available in a notebook

Is this a option/ what is?

    Thanks

I think the build quality is excellent on the one I have. The design is pretty solid - perhaps a little more flex in the keyboard than I would like, but overall v.good. Better than any other laptop I have had, and I have used many over the last 10 years.

This is a workstation class device though, so unless you need that much horsepower you might consider alternatives like a mac book pro, adamo and others which look to be solidly built. A monoque construction would be better.

    Paul.

Is this with the latest BIOS? I used the card before successfully (had A04 or A05). No problems except that the mic was not working due to my 8 GB of RAM (Creative driver problem). Was not a big deal as it was on Vista since you can use multiple sound devices so you can use the integrated sound card's mic plug. But, I kinda wanted the software coming with the X-Fi cards so I got X-Fi Notebook (Express Card). Visually, it goes much better with the M6400 (it's black and has a blue LED light) while the Audigy 2 ZS appearance fit quite nice with my older laptop - the HP 8710W. Otherwise, I don't see much difference (I have a feeling I was more satisfied with the Audigy 2 ZS with the current speakers).
