Correct! Which is why I wrote, "Do you know of any numbers for the M6400?"

Finally got around to order my new notebook after scanning this forum daily for the last six months. Once the Covet version was out I knew there was no turning back.

Ended up with a 2.8GHz, 4GB, 320GB HD. Probably gonna upgrade to SSDs sometime in the future when prices drop a bit. Feels like November can't come around fast enough now. :)

As a postscript, you can avoid that re-install if you image your old hard drive (using, say, Acronis TrueImage), and then restore the image onto your RAID array. On the Dell machines I have seen so far, the RAID array appears as a standard drive, so the restored image should boot without any issues. If Dell is offering a special driver for the RAID configuration, you could install that afterwards for improved performance. Disk images can save a lot of time...

P.P.S.: I might add that Acronis also offers a Universal Restore option for their TrueImage suite, which allows you to restore your disk image taken on one machine to a new machine with different hardware. I have used that for my last hardware upgarde (from a single-processor Pentium machine to a Core-2 Duo machine), and it worked perfectly. If you have lots of software, all custom configured, this stuff is worth its weight in gold. Saved me literally days of work.

Thanks Nyceis. Wow -- I am surprised then that I've entered the testing stage so quickly. I only ordered in the middle of last week. I've read elsewhere on the boards that testing should be a few hours, a day at most. So I wonder if it is because this is a new model that testing is taking longer. I hope it isn't because our laptops are messed up...

In any case, please do share some photos of your machine when you get it. I ordered the quad-core with SSDs in RAID 0...looking forward to getting out of testing, hope I'm not the 1 in 70 machines that is broken...

After watching the m6400 video on youtube I noticed that M6400 Covet has glossy screen. Is there a hidden option to get matte as well?

Also I want to know, if the normal m6400 also ships with E2E display or RGB LED.

    Thanx in advance

I dont own one yet so i cant say if the screen is glossy or matte but you can get the standard m6400 with E2E RGB or RGB LED even if it isnt listed in the customize page. You just have to call you DELL sales rep and request for it..be a bit persuasive by telling them other DELL sites have it as an option and the systems(i.e COVET and standard m6400) are exactly the same down to the last chip. Bear in mind, there will be an added overall cost and also a longer delay time because stock for E2E RGB is VERY LIMITED!

I tried this but it was too late because my system was in production and if i decided to go ahead, they will have to cancel the order and create a new one because i was using their financial scheme which will have to be cancelled since my eligibility goes over my credit limit.(DELL UK)

Moreover, i have waited long enough...am sure i can probably change it in the future.
