You can simply enter into the BIOS and turn on the TPM module and select Hard Drive encryption - Enter in a password or register a fingerprint to the TMP BIOS and you have full HD encryption.

Alternatively, you may use the Embassy Trust Suite to have a folder level encrypted folder created in your My Documents or other locations.

All of this can be done using any drive. It is not set up at the factory as then you would be giving dell your Private Key - making the encryption not-so-secure

    yaaaaaaaaa,

Just ordered a covet with a T9600 2.8, 3Yr CompleteCare, the rest standard spec apart from the graphics card which i dropped down to the 512MB NVIDIA Quadro FX2700M (don't really need the FX3700M and the £300 i saved can go towards the extra ram and hard drive):D

will upgrade the ram to 8gb and put a 500gb Seagate Momentus 7200.4 in the second bay, (when they finaly come out, urgh )

The rep (who was lovely by the way)quoted me a maximum of 4 weeks delivery and she got me a £179 discount :D

    now the wait :(

OK - here's a good question... I ordered the M6400 and its "In production" but they did ship the Docking station. The question would be, the m6400 comes with a 210W powersupply, but the dock has a 130W powersupply so...

Will the 130W support the m6400? Would using the 210W PS with the dock cause problems? I wonder why the dock didnt come with a 210 if thats the case? hrmmm.

I have the same problem and when I asked my rep that question before it shipped they said that's what they come with and it should be fine, but reading other topics on this board I found this.

I just emailed my rep asking for an exchange. Hope this helps.

"Intel will update its current Centrino 2 "Montevina" platform this spring with new chipsets and two new processors. April will see the launch of the GM47 chipset for high-end notebooks. July/August will see the launch of the next-generation Capella platform, which will use the GM55 chipset.

The two new processors launching with the Centrino 2 refresh are the Core 2 Duo T9900 and the P8800. Intel will introduce several new processors for the Montevina platform before the end of this year, including the Core 2 Quad Q9600, and Core 2 Duo T9800."

Will any of these new high end CPU's be using less power than the current high end CPU's?

New M6400 owners, any heat and fan noise comments?
    Battery life?
Glossy vs matte screens on the M6400, comments?

I'm considering Q9100, 8GB, FX3700M, 7200 HD, e2e RGB LCD, but not sure about heat, fan noise, battery life.
If e2e RGB is too glossy, then I'll go with RGB LCD (matte).

It will be interesting to see how well the FX3700M power saver works when doing non intensive work. Battery life?

Anyone seeing 2/4GB turbo memory as an option in the user manual? Thanks!

HP glossy screens look like a mirror dipped in lubricant and require sunglasses ...
