I just got my Vostro 1500 this week and unfortunately got one with a CPT141F screen. Everything else about the laptop is great (even runs at 0.9000 volts), but this screen can be a real headache. The light bleeding is terrible and the colors are washed out. I got the lowest cost warranty, but will I be able to send it back and get another screen without paying? What are the chances of getting a good screen? Who do I contact to initiate the process?

If there's something really wrong with your screen, they'll replace it. I have the same screen, but think mine is excellent, and don't have any issues.

If you want to take a chance you can call them up and ask them to build you a new one but you risk the possibility something might be wrong with the new exchange.

Some problems I never could figure out and would like to fix when I get my vostro back.

    1) Whenever I boot up with ethernet plugged in (tried Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6,Cat5e, and Cat7 cables) it freezes on welcome screen shows a blank desktop no task bar etc for well over 2/3 minutes.

    2) Auto connect to internet connection (ethernet)

    3) The intel wifi software... I have no clue how to use wifi and the software makes it impossible any solutions?

    Thanks

I don't hear the headphone port noise, even with my HD280. That is with or without music and with or without mute. I'm usually one to get annoyed by the slightest undesired sound, and I seriously don't hear any noise. Its a refurbished 1400 if that matters. Maybe the previous owner had already ungrounded the headphone area.

I'm having a strange problem, can anyone assist? My Vostro (1.4 Ghz dual core) seems to start very slowly... three minutes total start up time, most of it spent on the blue 'Welcome' screen. I'm not sure what the problem is, I've run diagnostics and a third-party processor test and it seems fine... does anybody have any ideas before I have to do the unfortunate and ask Dell to fix it ?
