I had tried that but with no luck. According to bootvis there was a huge lull (60+) of activity, unforuntetly I couldn't get some of the graphs to work in the programme so I couldn't figure out exactly what Windows was trying to access. Anyway I used the "optimise startup" command and its working like a dream now, so I'm happy :D

My HD started clicking so I requested for a replacement Sunday, received the new (refurb) drive yesterday and reformatted and everything is good now. Since updating the BIOS to A09, the fan seems to be running more constant but doesn't kick in "high" like it used to. Maybe it's me but it seems to be running hotter now than before the BIOS update. I've been pretty happy with this system though, hoping for a deal on a Vostro 1310 by the end of the summer though to replace this one.

    Hi guys

I have two questions about Vostro 1500.
first of all i want to recover its Windows Vista by using the recovery on its D partition but i don't know the instructions.
and the second one is about using panel buttons, should I do something to activate them or i can use it in Media player with no problem because i can't use them.

I would be thankful if anyone can help me.

    Thanks,

My Vostro is great other than two things:

#1. The hinges make an irritating noise. It's definitely coming from the hinges. It only happens when I open/close the lid.
#2. The battery is wobbly but I put some paper in between so it doesn't wobble as much now
