I hooked it up to my 720p projector it played blueray fine. i would assume it can do 1080p on a bigscreen tv if it supports it.

Hey guys just finished reading through the last 22 pages. I'm a little concenred about the screen.
I'm coming from a Thinkpad Z61t which has just got to slow, and the screen to ancient compared to newer screens like my Alienware M17x this one (the think thinkpad) seems so flat and whites don't pop.
I'm wondering if one you of owners could weigh in with your thoughts on the screen?

I'm looking for a notebook that I can surf the web on, watch movies/TV.
I love the 14 inch form factor. And I hate most glamorus consumer line laptops.

got a maximum of 1920x1200 via HDMI and VGA. haven't tested sound via HDMI so i don't know whether that works. overall very solid purchase since it can play 1080p h264 movies with ease...

i am about to buy this laptop, but the only thing that worries me is the battery life.how long do we get while playing standard definition video(480p) continuosly or atleast running wifi on continuosly until battry reaches 0% with 6cell battery?

i heard for for 4 cell its about 2 and half hours for normal usage and with 9cell battery, its about 5hours.but in my country(india) only 6cell battry is offered.

i like all the features of asus ul30vt except it doesnot have backlit keyboard(i dont want to mod and void warranty) and moreover its not available in india yet.

but vostro 3400 has got matte screen, backlit keyboard, finger print scanner and dvd drive but now i do worry about battery life.any idea regarding battry life of vostro 3400 with 6cell battery??

I just bought vostro 3400. It is pretty good, and I am so satisfied.
I have one question. I'd like to install OS X on it for fun, but I don't want to risk my brand new laptop and windows. I am thinking to install OS X on another HDD. Does anyone know where I can buy HDD caddy for 3400? Or do you have any better idea to install OS X without risking my windows? Thanks in advance...

Just picked up a 3400 myself. I'm very satisfied with it. I also have a Precision M6500 so this isn't my high-end laptop, but it's still a great little machine.

    Hi

I'm thinking of buying a Vostro 3400 with an i3-350m CPU and notice that it has both VGA and HDMI outputs (for both the basic configuration running Intel GMA HD graphics as well as the NVIDIA G310 512MB graphics option).

I wonder if it might be possible to power two external monitors by connecting them to the VGA and HDMI outputs, with the HDMI output driving a 1920 x 1080 LCD TV as a monitor. If this is achievable, is the NVIDIA G310 512MB graphics option required or will the basic Intel GMA HD graphics configuration suffice?

If two external monitors can indeed be used, what happens to the notebook's own display? Still usable or disabled?

Since this combination (i3-330/350/370m with Intel GMA HD graphics or NVIDIA G310 512MB graphics) is also available for the Vostro 3300 and 3500 (and probably other Dell laptiops too), it seems these two machines will share the same attribute regarding the use of two external monitors.

I'd appreciate it if any Vostro users can confirm whether two external monitors can be powered by using both the VGA and HDMI outputs.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

    Luke
