    AHCI is enabled.

Has any owner been able to get Trim to work in W7?

I have trim working on mine. I have firmware version VBM9LD1Q. If you do a search for your firmware version you'll see that trim and GC is not available. You might look into flashing the firmware or just call Dell and requesting a replacement drive.

    As for your other questions:

    1) Mine shipped with a display port to VGA adapter.
    2) I believe the large file is the source code which you don't need unless you're going to develop software for LO.
    3) Don't have a clue about that one.

Thanks. Did you buy yours from the Outlet store or the regular store? I got mine from the Outlet, and probably am not in a strong negotiation position.

Duffy, I am wondering if you experience the same things I do. I have a really loose battery bay, and I have an annoying touchpad that does not track well. Oftentimes, it pauses as if the touchpad doesn't work anymore and then I will have to give it a couple of motions with my finger before it moves again.

These two things are really annoying.

The battery is a little loose, but I've had worse. You might try a bit of tape on the rails that the battery slides on to tighten up the motion.

The touchpad is an Alps and if you didn't know Alps touchpads are notorious for poor tracking and erratic motion. You might try a different driver from Acer, Toshiba, or Sony. Just search the forums for some links. I use a Macbook Pro with the multitouch trackpad from time to time. It is the best touchpad by far. Everything else is just a sad joke. I pretty much use my Z exclusively with an external mouse (Logitech Anywhere MX) to reduce the frustration.

just got my Z with the 256GD SSD.. just want to ask.. what does TRIM do? is it better to have it enabled?

another thing is, i saw a simcard slot behind the battery bay.. is that for 3G, does this come with a built in 3G modem? i inserted my 3g simcard but it doesnt seem to work.

how do you like the size of the Latitude Z? Did you get it with a 4-Cell or 8-Cell battery? If I get it, my preference is for 4C, as it would weigh 4.5lbs at that point?

Do you think it's profile is too big to carry around, if you were a college student for instance? Does it feel light for its size?

Also, do you plan on carrying it around, or keeping it plugged in most the time? Thanks.
