I ordered some additional accessories for the Z when I ordered my Z and I rec'd an email saying the my accessories were going to be delayed by 5 days. They were due to be delivered on the 5th and they indicated that they would be delivered on the 10th.

This worried me because the delivery date for the Z was the 24th and I'm leaving town on the 29th for 8 days. I thought, "Geeze, if they can't deliver the accessories on time, there's no way they will be able to deliver the Z on time." So I called them expecting to cancel the entire order.

They said that they expected the Z to ship on the 9th. What? I explained to the guy that I was leaving town and if he thought I wouldn't have by the 24th, I could just cancel and place my order when I get back in town. He reiterated that I would probably have it next week.

I hope he's right, but I'm not holding my breadth. I told him if I didn't see a shipped notice on Monday, I would probably cancel.

It might be the lightest Latitude but the Toshiba R500 /R600 are lighter.

The Z is the first laptop that can go head-to-head with the Macbook Pro from a design point of view. The Macbook Pro is just an elegant piece of equipment and the Z is the first computer that offers a svelte design, elegance, and some cutting edge features. But like all cutting edge items, you pay a premium for staying on the edge.

I'm just hoping it lives up to the hype.

The MBP is not really ahead of anything in terms of design and looks are purely subjective...

I am going to order the Z but I have some questions that the Dell representative was not able to answer.

Does the dell wireless charging station include the wireless connection for wireless display connection, etc???

Or do I have to get the wireless docking station on top of the wireless charging station.

It's not very clear on their website.

On top of that, the wireless docking station option which is $349 enabling you to connect a second display and hard drives wireless is not compatible with Win 7 as per their website. The problem... No other operating software is optional... WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ABOUT?

    Thanks for all the help.

No, of course not; the two have nothing at all to do with each other.

    Yes.

They call it the "bleeding edge" for a reason; there's no Win7 drivers for the UWB card available yet, although the Vista drivers should work. The Z is available with Vista. Whether or not you can see that option may depend on which path you took through the wondrous maze of Dell's website.
