I have a Dell M4400 with nVidia 770 and I also have a Dell 3007WFP which supports 2560x1600 native resolution. Does anyone know if the M4400 will support this resolution if I dock it to an E-Port Replicator and use the DVI output of the docking station to the 3007WFP? When I looked at the Dell manual for the E-Port Replicator (and also the Plus) it didn't say if the DVI output supports dual-link. I appreciate the feedback.

    Thanks!

This might be somewhat close so here it goes. I have a M2400 with a E-dock
with the dual DVI's. I run 2 22" monitors on it however the 2nd DVI won't work
in this config for whatever reason and i had to fall back to the analog port on the dock to get both monitors works. Talk about a pisser. Best of luck.

I tried asking Dell support but they didn't know if the M4400 + E-Port Replicator would support 2560x1600.

Is there a way to tell just by looking at a DVI port if it support dual link? Maybe I can find a photo or 360 view of the E-Port.

Dual-Link DVI connectors are physically different from Single-Link connectors. Single-Link connectors will have pins missing in the middle where Dual-Link connectors are filled in. If you see missing pins in the middle, you know for sure it will not support Dual-Link.

The DVI connectors on the E-Port Replicator are NOT Dual Link DVI. The only way to connect the M2400, M4400, or M6400 to a 3007WFP would be with a DisplayPort to DualLink DVI dongle. This part will be available in the Dec - Jan time frame. You can connect these Precisions to a 3008 via Display Port to Display Port cable.

If the M4400 is connected to an external monitor like the 3008 using the display port can you have a true dual-monitor setup between the M4400's LCD and the second monitor? Or do you have to choose which one is the active display device?

    Thanks,

Anyone know if currently available Displayport to dual-link DVI dongle from Apple will work in the Mx400 Dells? Thanks.

I too have the problem with my new M6400 the eport + docking station, and my two 3007WFP's. I'm very frustrated as the max resolution for the two monitors using the docking station's 2 dvi connections is 1280x800 (1/2 the resolution). Everything is huge on my screens, which is lame because my boss can probably read this post i'm writing right now.
I've read on other forums (i've been searching the web extensively about this subject) that the apple displayport to dual-link dvi connector is crap and doesn't work well.

Apple also claims it's only meant to work with their products (typical of them) and won't offer support for other platforms.
The only dongle info i can find has been from havoctex, and that Dell is releasing one in the dec-jan timeframe. I wish i could tell you a specific date, but i can't. :(

That's my post, yeah you're out of luck. I gave up and bought the 30" DisplayPort monitor.
