I also have an SP2309 and will be getting an E6400. The SP2309 came with 3 cables, a VGA, a DVI and a HDMI. I also got an E-port. Which cable would I use to connect the SP2309 to the E-port, to ensure that I can use the resolutions available? I may not use the full 2048 x 1152, as that gets a bit tiny, but it would be good to know how I could if I ever wanted to?

    Thanks!

Use the DVI cable. VGA would work too. There is also a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that you could use.

BTW: I spent days and thousands of dollars solving this issue, how about granting me a little rep power for saving everyone a lot of time and money.

Sorry to be dense here, but if I use the DVI cable (which I take it is better than using just the VGA cable) between the E-port and the SP2309, will I be able to get FULL resolution offered by the SP2309? Also, what would be the difference in performance if I were to go with the "DisplayPort to HDMI adapter" option?

Thanks for your help, and for sure, + rep to you!

I gave you +1 to Rep yesterday. I didn't realize that the converter had to be powered, which saved me some money.

Thanks guys, I really don't care about the reps. I just wasted so much time on this issue that I wanted to prevent others from falling into the same misinformation loop Dell support was creating.

Circus_boi, use the DVI connection unless you have a DisplayPort monitor. Your HDMI question is dependent on the resolutions that your display supports using that interface. I only use HDMI on TVs when I am outputting 720p or 1080p using a DVI to HDMI cable between PC and HDTV.

That doesn't make much sense. The new mini-Display Port to dual link dvi from apple doesn't require power.

I think our only hope now (which is fleeting) is a apple mini-display port to a traditional display port adapter, then buy the apple mini to dvi...

Also to note, there is an adapter on DELL's website for this but it has the same problem (and made by the same folks) of only doing half (single link). I tried to write a review for that but it got rejected. What is Dell playing at?

Look closer at the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI product, ..there is a USB cable for power. Many apple people are not happy with that adapter when trying to use their Dell 3007WFP monitors.

There are plenty of DisplayPort adapters on Dell's website and they're all passive single-link dvi at this moment.

It's a minor detail, but dual-link dvi only has 6 pins (3 data pairs) more than single-link dvi.

Right on. I was looking at the wrong one. I was looking at the single link one from apple. Thanks for pointing this out!
