Hi folks - I know this thread is stale - but I am considering the sp2309w for my m4400.

I have the e-port replicator plus, and it's not clear to me after searching the forums, google, etc. if I have a 2309 as an external monitor via DVI (or Displayport to HDMI) if I will get the 2048x1152, and if I will be able to use the laptop screen as a second display.

Does anyone have this configuration (2309, m4400 and e-port plus) that can or has tested this?

I like having a large coding monitor, and using the laptop display for web page output, or SQL Server tools.

I'm fine if I have to get the displayport to dual link DVI adapter as long as I can drive both displays. BTW, the m4400 has the WUXGA panel (1900x1200)

    Thanks,

    Eric

I am also curious about what would be needed to drive a display beyond 1920x1200 with the EPort Plus.

From what I understand, if your monitor has a DisplayPort, you're covered as long as you connect through the DisplayPort. The DVI port on the dock is not DualLink, so that is limited to only 1920 x 1200 max.

However, if you must use DualLink DVI -- as in my situation where I have a DualLink DVI KVM, I'll need to get a DisplayPort to DualLink DVI adapter like this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Cables/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=330-5521

One question I have... is the USB port on that adapter ONLY used for powering the DualLink interface? That would explain why so many people have problems with this adapter, as some USB ports only power on when the USB drivers are loaded with the OS... so BIOS screens/Windows Boot maybe out of luck unless this thing is detected as a USB keyboard/mouse. However I wonder if you plug the adapter into a USB Charger (and not a USB port), if that would fix that problem?

Another option I am curious about is the M4400 with the e-port plus display port to the mini-display port on an apple LED cinema display.

    Anyone tried this?
