Oh so it's very pricey for a "passive" solution. Could'nt figure why the price of this Belkin adapter is so high ...

In the meantimes I recieved a partial answer from Belkin :
"Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support. Unfortunately, i am unable to answer your question using the current documentation for this device that is accessible to me. I have forwarded your email to the product manager that supports this device for an answer to your inquiry. As soon as i receive a reply i will forward the response to you. Thank you in advance for your patience and consideration. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us again. Thank you for your interest in Belkin products."

1/ So this product is not on their website
2/ And they don't know it very well.

I'm afraid that right now, as you said, the only solution is to buy the 3008 with DP <--> DP cable (but I'm not convinced by the price/performances ratio), or wait about new model with Displayport. In 2007 Samnsung announced a 30" with displayport support for mid 2008 but still nothing. Things are going slowly in all sides.
Going to Cebit in March... perhaps I will see new models.

I'm a bit confused by this thread.

I have a brand new M2400 with the Quadro FX370M video card.

    I also have a brand new 30" Dell 3007WFP.

Now I don't care if I have the max resolution but I would at least like to have 1900x1280.

What cable or port replicator do I need to use? I know there is the displayport to single dvi as well as the eport plus replicator.

    What do you suggest?

I should also mention the cable that came with my monitor is Dual Link DVI (Monitor side) and regular DVI on the other side.

You really don't have any options. The max you are going to get out of that combo, as mentioned earlier, is 1280x800 by using a displayport to dvi adapter. The docking station for that laptop only has single link dvi ports. If you've bought it recently, you might get Dell to give you credit on the 3007 towards a 3008. You'll probably need to do a lot of squeaking.

Dell should really be ashamed at this. I've got an m6400 that cost around 5 grand, and a 3007 monitor from my old desktop that I was going to use. I'm stuck using a 24" monitor off the displayport until Dell or somebody comes out with an adapter. Or shell out for the 3008.

Dell eventually gave in and let me return the monitor + gave me a discount on my laptop to purchase to cover the additional cost of purchasing the 3008. It wasn't an easy thing to convince them to do and I had to return the item and wait for the refund before ordering the replacement.

    Another situation and confusing.
I just bought a M4400 with 1440x900 LCD display and FX1700. And I plan to buy a 2709W(which has 1920X1200 resolution) on my desk. I tried to talk to dell and DELL US agent told me " If your M4400 is 1440x900 resolution, then you connected to 2709W will show 1440x900. In other way, if your M4400 is 1920x1200, then your 2709W will show 1920x1200"

But DELL China agent and technical engineer told me " Yes, you can connect to 2709W with 1920x1200 even your M4400 is 1440x900"

Now I am confused....I haven't buy the monitor yet, hope to confirm at first coz I don't want to waste money on that.

    Mike

You'll be just fine. You can configure the M4400 to display 1440x900 and 1920x1200 on the 2709 simultaneously, display 1440x900 in both mirror and extended desktop or just use the 2709 in 1920x1200,
