    I didn't think the M6700 will work with memory slower than 1600. You said you saw those speeds in a review so it might be OK. Has anyone tested this?

    The new Notebook Review login system booted my last response because it took 30 minutes to write and upon logging in again, my proper response vanished.

    Lightroom does not use much RAM. It uses a ton of CPU and Disk resources. Even with 2000+ libraries, Lightroom rarely causes the system to use more than 4GB of ram.

    Address the disk issues first - make sure you have a fast SSD or pair of SSDs.

    Upgrade to 1866 RAM when you can. At least 8GB.

    Photoshop is a RAM hog. It will want a lot more than 8GB when you are working with very large files.

    Making sure to Cntrl-C this abbreviated response before posting...

    Well, the memory controller is capable of handling 1333MHz RAM, but Dell sells the M6700 with 1600MHz SODIMMs and pretty much every M6700 owner got 1600MHz or faster aftermarket RAM too.

    Looks like we're experiencing some issues with the new notebookreview syle: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sit...-reply-login-problem-anyone-experiencing.html. It's been pushed to the programming team, but in the mean time, you can switch to default VB4 style.

    4x8GB (32GB) works at 1866. Even though it is not listed on the Dell tech specs. 8GB modules weren't available at 1866 when the M6700 was released.

    I just wanted to confirm that Dell part number PDG96 is in fact the Dell color-matched optical bay hard drive caddy. The problem is that the unit I received is fingerprinted, scratched, dented and bent. As with most things these day with Dell (in my experience), QC is suffering badly. At least, their exchange team is great. I will post pictures next to the NewModeUS caddy once the exchanged unit arrives.

    I wonder if it's possible to stretch the time-period for the backlit keyboard;

    Could there be an option to change it in the registry?
