Enough reasons to choose vista then :) Thank you!

I orderd the systems with following specs:
    P9500, Nvidia NVS160M PC Express, WXGA+ Screen, backlit keyboard, WD500GB Hard Drive, Advanced E-Dock, 6Cell battery, 3G\UMTS, Slim AC65W, 4GB ram, Intel Wifi5300, Bluetooth Dell 370, DP-HDMI & DP-DVI travel adapter, neopren carrying sleeve.

I "just" got the DVD-rom instead of the DVDRW, because delivery problems in Scandinavia with the DVDRW. However I got the DVDRom for free, so Im just looking for a cheap DVDRW. Or Bluray unit if they become accessible soon? :)

    best regards

Has anyone else experienced the problem that when you reduce the brightness (to go to minimum brightness) that the backlight will shut off completely? You can't get the backlight back on unless you toggle the ambient light sensor on and off.

Not for me on either Windows 7 public beta or Windows Vista 64-bit.

What video drivers are you using in the beta? Dell or the preinstalled ones?

    Greg

    Edit: Intel?

Fixed it, installed the older graphics driver from the Dell website. I think that I got higher brightness as well.

Question for the other E6400 owners on Vista -- do you have any issues playing full-screen Flash videos e.g. from CBS? For some reason, the video/audio starts out fine for me, but then after a few minutes it becomes choppy. Playing it in the normal window (not full screen) is smooth.

E.g. try the links for a full episode on http://www.cbs.com/primetime/csi_ny/

This is on Vista 32-bit, NVS 160, running on WXGA+ i.e. 1280x900. I'm wondering if it's a Vista thing, as the E6400 came with preinstalled XP and it wasn't choppy under XP.

    Thanks.

That price makes me jealous... I paid $1299 for this config (actually, only 1Gb of Ram). I suppose that's the price of living in Canada and being an early adopter.

My parents have bad vision and have no trouble reading the WXGA+ on my E6400.

    greg,

this is from the outlet and is a scratch and dent. There was also a 20% off coupon. It is true that early adopter pay a premium. I've been 5 months without a laptop and it's not fun to always try to borrow one from the university. So now I get a good deal :D
