@Theros123, ok dude... with all these problems I would be pissed. I would either return it, or send it for repair already!!! what is your problem... you won't die!

I told you, you can upgrade your warranty if you REALLY don't want to send it in, to get on site service. It should not be much, because you can still return it... it should be like if you ordered the laptop with it... logically speaking.

After comparing the keyboard and space bars with other laptop from friends... the space bar is surprisingly quiet compared to them. If you don't hammer your keys and space bar, it should not make more noise... well that much.

i'd say i have a moderate pressure when typing, but the issue lies in the spacebar... all other keys are dead silent and sound perfectly quiet, but the space bar is just a weird sound lol i can imagine typing up word docs on an airplane trip and ticking off someone sitting next to me. i think the prob. is that when i hit the spacebar i use my right thumb along the right-most side of it... and i tested it and it seems less audible when pressing directly on the center, but never had a problem with other laptops with high pitched spacebar sounds, o well, just a small idiosyncracy to get used to, no biggie!

PS check back a few threads, i replied to your long responses on my laptop to hdtv (display port to hdmi adapter) posts... with screen shots and diagnosis of dell and different questions...

    khoifl,

I also got a AUO4047 14.1 inch WXGA+ screen on an E6400 from the Outlet Store. My invoice said:

    Module,Cover,Back,Liquid Crystal Display,Light EmittingDiode,Red,E6400

so I think that it is LED backlit. The odd thing is that it looks very glossy. Does yours?

Glossy? I think the computer was a special order to have the E5400 (low end model 14inch of the latitude series) screen rather than the E6400 matte screen. The person that ordered this might be the worlds stupidest person. As a sale rep I would just hang up and know that he would return the laptop... and my guess the reason was that "the screen is glossy".

I got the black ones from the same source and put them on the top part of the display bezel. They are barely noticeable. Note that these bumpers need cutting down to about half thickness.

Bumpers on the display bezel are less likely to get disturbed than bumpers on the palm rest.

OMG, DELL E6400 has a lot of drivers...
I am going to install Win7 32bit on Sunday, so right now I am tryting to download all the drivers from dell, and it shows me:
    "Download Size Limit Exceeded!
    Total Download Size: 1223.36MB
The maximum allowed size for one download is 175MB. Please remove files to reduce your total download size. "

that 1GB drivers for E6400, Do we really need these????

The DCP Connection and Security modules are HUGE downloads. You can live without these, imo. Also, it has been suggested that these include the drivers for the related devices, so downloading both these and the separate stand-alone device drivers would be redundant. But since I have never installed these DCP modules, I can't be sure what they include.
