Yeah, I think I'm going to try to get an exchange out of them without sending it in since I really can't wait six days. Here's my talking points so far:

    1) The Bios was not configured correct to allow me to activate Vista without calling Microsoft directly everytime I install it
    2) The Right LCD Hinge is loose, and can be moved around. Discomforting for a business class laptop, especially since everything else is pretty much rock solid
    3) The Dell sticker logo on the front cover is falling off, the second L will not stay attached to the cover.
    4) The Keyboard has some odd flexing to it on the right and left sides. The keys are actually slightly raised, and I can press them down and they will give.
    5) The right speaker grill is loose as well, allowing me to press down on it and for it to make noise.
    6) The battery has excessive wear already, even after only normal usage. It's already at almost 7%!

I talked to a Dell Rep about the Bios, and updated the Bios did not fix that solution either. I would also hate to spend another $100 if I had no guarantee that they would fix this. Maybe I can try to get them to come and do it for free. I think I'll save the option of upgrading my warranty for last, since obviously I don't want to spend any more money to fix their problems.

Heh, refurbs are refurbs for a reason I suppose...mine was also a Previously New, the newest certification! And is has this many issues?

You think it's too much to ask for a copy of Vista x64 either?

try requesting, and if they say no, then demand it. you have a right to it. Chris M at dell can be contacted if they screw you around, report back and we can help you here.

Well, I'm still on the phone with a Dell tech...but I managed to get an exchange. I am also able to keep my current laptop till I receive the replacement which is nice. I'm not sure about getting Vista 64, but I'm sure if I called back to customer support I could get it from them.

Ironically though, the tech's system keeps crashing throughout our conversation...leading him to keep lamenting at his machine. Okay, just got off the phone. Apparently their entire system is down, so he's going to call me back...with the service #s and all hahaha...how about irony. I call him to replace a laptop with problems and their entire system goes down when he's submitting my request. Overall, that was a pleasant experience...did get transferred around a bit and had to listen to crappy phone music for awhile but oh well.

hey all, i know sometimes Dell's coupons are expired or used up if it's a limited use coupon, but i found a site that allows you to input your e-mail (doesn't seem like i get spammed) after doing it (I just used it) within seconds they generate a custom code for you that validates... it is only 10% off but at least it works anytime even when dell doesn't have valid coupon codes floating around out there.. check it out:
