all of my laptops have this problem coz i put the laptop in my backpack( the laptop is just sitting behind my back), and when I wear my backpack my back will give a force to push the bag.. It just like you put your palm on the top of the laptop screen cover and push downward.

i would strongly consider getting a different backpack, as i (sadly) carry this one in my bag, and definitely am not pressing on it hard enough for this to occur. for comparison, i use a north face surge. http://www.trailspace.com/gear/the-north-face/surge/

yea, I have been looking for the backpack for a long time.
I am using Targus 15.4” CityGear Chicago for 4 years alrady coz its really big, and I can put alot of book in it.
I went to frys, and searched online, didn't know which laptop backpack has a larger capacity.

I agree: Something is wrong here. My E6400 gets squashed in its bag and the bezel has marked the palmrest but the keyboard has never touched the screen.

One thought, however: What display do you have? LED or CCFL backlit? The LED backlit screen may be slightly thinner and less likely to touch the keyboard.

I agree with John... I have my laptop in standard sleeve and in my backpack in the reserved laptop compartment with my university dictionaries.. it's quiet tight... in result the laptop label scratches the screen bazel..., but I NEVER had the keyboard or touchpoint touch the screen.

The laptop should be places to the closets from your back... unless you enjoy back problems.

i dont know that bag particularly, but the northface surge is a huge backpack, i can fit my laptop plus 4 law textbooks in it, and then some.

Huh, I have a Slappa Backpack with a slot for up to a 15.4" laptop. I think I'll probably buy a sleeve for the E6400 at some point, but I noticed as well that this current E6400's keyboard is marking up the screen a bit with the touchpoint. There's a sorta obvious circle imprint in the middle of the screen, but this E6400 I have has some keyboard raised issues. So hopefully the exchanged one I get doesn't have this issue.

Though, I pack my backpack pretty full with easily 5-6 medium sized notebooks.

never happen to me either.... even though i put a light small book on top... it has a 2mm clearance

putting a screen protector would make your matte screen glossy.... and i don't think that's a good idea for outdoors....

coz my lenovo y series has a glossy screen and outdoor viewing is terrible
