the reason for your local connection 2 is you tried to setup the "connect to the internet" wizzard twice....

how do you remove it? it's not showing up in my add/remove programs, and i do not see where to uninstall it.. thanks!

regarding the local connection, well there are 2 different ones:

Local Area Connection- Intel(R) 82567LM Gigabit Network Co
Local Area Connection 2- Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver

what should I do there if i don't want them showing up/loading in system tray?
I already have something else that makes the bluetooth work automatically, so it seems redudant, no/yes?

in these case: you installed bluetooth PAN -personnal area network.

in my case, i only used bluetooth for my cellphones and mouse.

you can remove the PAN on your bluetooth

for the UCM - dell control point has 3 major apps. i only installed 2: one for the ambient & keyboard lighting and the other is for power management

what is the PAN supposed to do then for bluetooth? I'm confused.... What would it control other than cell phone, wireless headset, keyboard, mouse or printer?

Bluetooth Personal Area Network (Bluetooth PAN) provides wireless connections by enabling links between mobile computers, mobile phones, portable handheld devices, and connectivity to the Internet.

Bluetooth PAN is maintained by Bluetooth.

For information on Bluetooth PAN, see http://www.bluetooth.com/.

Received my "Refurbished" E6400 from Outlet ordered last Friday. It's really a new one. The backlit keyboard is notorious for finger smudges and I couldn't find any.

I started experiencing the Dell trackpoint and found that it is a bit uneven so I remove the rubber piece to see the back. The trackpoint has a slighly damaged back. I called Dell customer service and asked them to send me a new trackpoint, just the rubber piece. They couldn't find the part number and decided to overnight a new backlit keyboard. Services are great!

Now off to install Vista updates and updated Dell drivers. The keyboard feels great typing. It is diffirent from my Thinkpad T61 but it is great.

For $500, this machine is hard to beat.

I have finally upgraded to bios A12 from my very stable A09 because it seemed there were no issues. Unfortunately does the new temp settings for the fan make it run much earlier. Have anyone noticed the same and is it safe to revert to A09?
