I have a question, is the E6400 backlit keyboard interchangable with the E5400?

Personally I don't know, but I don't think so, because If I look at the pin layout of the keyboard, they are 3 pins that seams to be added, so it might not be there on the motherboard of the E5400.

Has anyone downloaded and installed the latest (12.4.0.2) software and drivers for 5300 from Intel?

Maybe someone can recommend which version of Proset and which drivers to use with WinXP 32bit?

Regarding the overheat and thermal pads:

I have just got off the phone with Dell Finland. I have explained that people have been having problems with Nvidia GPUs in their Latitude and Precision models, and that replacing the thermal pad with a copper mod has fixed the problem. They said they are unaware of this issue, and provided an email address for me to send a description of my problem as well as links to people who have the same problem, and to people who have fixed through the copper mod.

I started a new thread and I ask all of you who have or had this issue to post there. The more people put their experience there, the more likely the chance Dell will hear us and actually provide a fix. Even those of you who had Nvidia GPUs and switched to Intel GPUs could post there saying that overheating was the reason why you made the switch.

    Thanks in advance for this.

yes, i have downloaded them and am running them. most importantly, it gives you access to mywifi techonology, which allows you to use your wifi card as both an access point for computers and simultaneously connect to a network to get, e.g., internet, and share it across. as for winxp, i dont know. why are you still using a 32 bit os and why still using xp? unless you have a really good specific reason not to, you should upgrade to either vista (or better yet, win7).

Hi. I'm coming from a thinkpad so I'm still getting used to Dell Control Point and some system specific quirks. I've got an internal bluetooth card which I will not use most of the time. With my old thinkpad, their software allowed you to turn on and off wifi and bluetooth individually and it would remain that way until you changed it.

I've found where I can turn on and off these devices manually in DCP as well as set what is controlled by the hardware switch, but everytime I reboot my bluetooth turns on again. Other than disabling or removing the drivers, is there an friendlier way to have this be able to be turned off and stay off until I want to use it? I care mainly because having it on is a waste of battery.

    Thanks.

    few questions.

I got the E6400 with a P9500 and the NV160 and the fan in the notebook is always running. Is that typical or have I missed some kind of power management driver during my clean install?

What driver do I need for "pci simple communications controller"?

What driver or app allows the volume buttons to work?
