Not only that, in many laptops if you almost close the lid it will act as if you closed it. All my laptops this far have been like that.

There is an update to the Security software. Earlier this week was A13 1.3.00000 and I just noticed a new BIOS A15 and Security software A14 1.3.00001.

I will try out both and see if it helps with TPM issues. Hopefully the new BIOS helps with my sleep issue too.

This is only 32bit. :( I also noticed where Dell used to have a pull down for Windows 7 x64 on the E4200 and now they don't. Hmmmm

    A15 BIOS changes:

    Fixes/Enhancements
    ------------------
    1. Added support for Win 7.
    2. Updated PXE OPROM.
    3. Fixed issue where external USB CD drive can not boot.
    4. Added workaround for Windows issue causing printer connected to Docking Station to intermittently disappear after redock.
    5. Improved access speed for PCMCIA card.

#1 is nice :) Wonder what that means though?

Today is the first anniversary of the delivery of my E6400 and tomorrow is the first anniversary of the E6400 First Look.

This thread must also be about a year old.

WOW, it feel like 2 years for me :D Time passes so slow for me despite enjoying everyday.

448 pages and still going strong.
I wonder what is the biggest thread of notebook review.com forum :)

It was John first review that "pushed" me to buy E6400 and it was good choice. I think that beside of some quirks , overall this is very balanced laptop.

hey guys, im back. speaking of dell drivers, the entire site is messed up now. half the drivers under applications have reverted back to november 2008 drivers... win7 x64 is back as an option now, but i hope they fix this soon. and they have removed a lot of the newer drivers they had posted under win7, including the a14 security manager that was referenced above.

#1 means that it will properly interface with the 2.1 SLIC that is required for OEM activation... not that you can now get win7 for free or anything....

The Windows 7 x64 drivers that are there on the pull down are the same as the Vista x64 drivers. The only thing remotely new is the A15 BIOS.

They do have new Security Manager and Security Drivers but the Manager is borked. Breaks the TPM with fingerprints. Had to go back to a previous version to sign in with fingerprint. Problem is that after 4-5 hibernate/standby cycles, the fingerprint login for Windows fails.

I really wish UPEK worked for pre-boot authentication. I would never use the Wave stuff. It has always been buggy on every laptop with a fingerprint I have had.

This one is much longer, but may not be the longest (excluding the OT threads). You can change the display options for a forum to number of replies, which will move the longest threads to the top.
