Hey everyone I just got my E6400 ATG amd this thing is amazing and wanted to say Hi! I dont have any issues so far just curious where i could find info about adding a gobi/gps mini pci card to my system. Such as how much would it cost a month? Could I install it myself or would that void the warranty? And since it didnt come with the card installed would I have to install antennas myself or are they already in there?

If this is the wrong area for this sorry could you direct me to the right location?

    Thank You
    Adam

I don't know about any of your questions.
Buy Dell Business section doesn't void the warranty for what you will do. Of course you have to see the agreement as it might be different or I miss read it. But from my understanding, it doesn't void the warranty, however any problems linked to this card, like if the case you got not from Dell, has a manufacture problem, is not covered by DELL (which makes sense).

There's a lot to be learned from the service manual.

AFAIK all units are prewired, at least for antennae in the display. It would be too much hassle at the assembly stage to put in the wires for each configuration. Take the bottom off and check for yourself. My E6400 has a couple of wires parked next to the WWAN slot.

I believe that the Dell warranty covers what Dell installed in the factory.

    Double post, but new subject:

I've just run PCMark05 with my current hardware configuration (P8600, 4GB RAM, Intel graphics and Samsung 256GB SSD).

The score has risen from ~4,400 to 6,000. I've put the full details with this post, which also comments on my E6400 after one year.

I tried BIOS A15 with Win7 64-bit RC, I still got my problem with power saver mode where the CPU doesn't clock down to 798MHz but 1500MHz instead with power saver mode when on battery (but does it fine when plug-in). So I am sure this is a driver issue (or a Win7 RC bug) as my CPU does down to 798MHz when using Balance mode when on battery or plug-in.

With BIOS A14 with Balance power mode, minimum brightness, backlit keyboard turned off, no USB device plug-in, system idle, wireless ON I had 6 hours 15min of battery life, system idle, now same setup with BIOS A15 I have 7 hours and 44 min (14min more than under Vista 64-bit).
Of course, this is just what Windows tells me, I haven't tested this in real world. I will when university starts. If the battery status is true, then with proper system drivers I might (if I am lucky) gain even more battery life.. maybe an extra 5-10min?!

    Hi!

I got a Dell E6400 last week. REALY nice!)

I'm running Windows 7 RTM. CPU clock down to ~ 1600 MHZ. Not lower. It doesn't matter if I use "Balanced", "Energy Saver" or "High Performance" mode on bat.

    Bios: A15

Is this the way it should be?

CPUz versions newer than 1.40.5 don't detect the SFLM mode properly. I think your CPU is actually running at 800MHz at 0.925V.

RMClock's monitoring page gives a better indication of what the CPU is doing.
