I am expecting my E6500 to-morrow , here is the portion of final specs. Looking for inputs from others who have received their E6500 in last 2 days to see if they got the .3 MP webcam or 2MP webcam, ....i had just selected the webcam with microphone will find out what i get....but here is the bill of parts..

320-7003 Integrated VGA webcam with microphone for Latitude E6500
320-7015 15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD for Latitude E6500
    313-6807 Integrated 2.0MP VGA web cam w/ microphone for WXGA+ LCD Latitude E6500 $0.00

any clues on recent buyers of E6400 & E6500

in my case, got my e6400 last febuary 2009 and it's not the 2mp cam. just the .3mp and the business card scanner / reader software i want wouldn't work.

    Hi guys,

I wanted to let you know that I posted two ideas on Dell's IdeaStorm website, which is kind of an official Dell forum for new ideas and suggestions.

IDEA #1 (link): offer a 2.5'' HDD caddy for the modular bay, instead of the 1.8'' HDD caddy currently on offer. For those who don't know, there's a thread describing how to use a Lenovo 2.5'' HDD caddy on a Dell Latitude or Precision. 2.5'' HDD's are faster, larger and much more standard in the laptop market.

IDEA #2 (link): make the fingerprint reader standard, so that we can use it without Wave's Embassy Trust Suite, and so that it will work with many applications requiring passwords (including Firefox, Email clients, etc). This will also allow it to be used with Win 7's built-in software.

If you agree with these ideas, follow their respective links and vote for them (and if you disagree, vote against them!). You will have to register on Dell's IdeaStorm website which is free and very painless (username, password and email only). In the past Dell has used many ideas posted by members of those forums and I think it is our best shot at having these ideas implemented in the future.

Does anyone know if Dell sells replacement pads for the bottom of the E6400? I've lost the rubber portion and cracked the plastic underneath of 3 of them.

The pads are melted to the bottom panel... that was some force that was applied to them to get it removed. A need to get a new bottom base panel.

Is that offered anywhere? I'm not seeing it on the website. Perhaps I'll contact customer service.

Try and pass it under your warranty. I don't think you need to send your laptop to Dell (if you don't have next business on site service), for a panel. Well try to negotiate. Either way, it is not normal that they fell off, just like that, so it's a manufacture problem.

they definitely do. the only bumpers they dont sell replacements for are the ones on the far sides of the palm rest near the speaker grills. just call up, they should send for free.
