I've received my e6400 this week, all is good. no dead pixels, no whining, clicking and what not. Then I realised while typing, sometimes without me pressing the CTRL button, it seems like the CTRL button was pressed and whatever I typed became shortcut keys.

Anyone with similar problem? hopefully it's software related so I do not have to change the kb as it's gd except for this tiny occasional problem.

I plan on ordering the E6400 with the advanced port replicator (docking station). I only plan to run one external monitor. Do you expect that I will have this fan problem? Is everyone having this problem, or only on multiple monitors? This is disconcerting if true.

I'm running on dual monitors (laptop screen and external LCD monitor) through the displayport (with DVI adapter), the fan is fine, no extra heat, works as usual. Probably it's a problem isolated to the docking station and not with multiple monitor support?

So I had a Dell rep out replacing my fan. That did wonders now my fan turns off again after working a while. It seems as if it was not transpoting the heat from the gpu or something before. Before in I8kfanGUI the GPU/memory/chipset temp didn't really change when the fan was on and stayed around 44-45 even though the CPU temps were around 23-24. Now it falls if the computer is not stressed and it seems like the fan turns off when the GPU temp hits 42 or something like that. Hopefully this will also mean that the fast fan will not kick in as often or as early now, that would be great because where the slow fan is not very disturbing, the fast fan is quite noisy.

As for people critisizing the Samsung screen I don't understand this if their screen looks like my samsung screen. I am quite happy with my samsung screen, it is much better than any other screen I have had, including a Dell XPS M1330. I wonder if it is because the quality of the samsung screens are not all as good or if it is because some people are just more picky than me. I haven't seen the LG/Philips but am satisfied with my Samsung screen.

A while ago we discussed here the issue with the e6400 keyboards not allowing for certain keys to be depressed together properly. I kind of tried to ignore the problem because the columns affected by the issue were unlikely to become a real issue to me. However, I just ran into one key combo I can't use that is a real problem - I can't use the left and up arrows at the same time, making it impossible to move diagonally in both some apps and games I use.

I'm sure this is a hardware issue, but has anyone discussed this issue with dell? are they fixing the keyboards at all?

Um, nevermind. I just did the latest bios update, and it seems to be fine now (should have done that first, I know). :)

Good to know Dell is actually working on these problems.

SORRY, I shipped back the E6400 on Monday , because I had ordered the M2400 the Friday before and was coming up to the 30 day mark for the return.
The LG?Phillips screen is better in my opinion and with tthe price I got on the M2400 ,I'm happy I did the switch .

Has anyone else noticed that the touchpad driver takes forever to initalize after booting up? My computer is functioning and I can surf the internet for like 3 minutes before the Alps drivers initalize and the touchpad moves at the right speed and scrolling is enabled.
