Try the trackpad driver for the E4300 and disable Touchcheck or adjust the Touch Sensitivity to Light touch (I use both options).
In my case, that works way better!

I use that driver and sometimes my cursor doesn't animate, but I haven't had any freezing.

The cursor freezes for 1-2 seconds in Windows when I boot my PC (probably cause the driver is being loaded or something). I regard it as part of the process of booting my laptop, so it's not that big a deal for me.

My E6400 already shipped! I just ordered it Thursday and it shipped Sunday. I guess it's too late to make any changes.

What are some things I should test or look for when I receive it?

I would start with visual inspection of assembly quality.

Next check the BIOS version and whether the Dell software is up-to-date (for example, Dell has very recently released updates to the ControlPoint modules).

John, when you check or uncheck that button, does it bring up the apply option? There does not seem to be any difference for me between with it checked and unchecked, but it also does not seem to activate the apply button, so i am wondering if it isn't actually working.

the only way i can get rid of the tin noise (and enable the bass) is by disabling the speaker/headphone device altogether and using a USB to audio device

Has anyone tried removing the CPU and GPU coolers? I was thinking of replacing the thermal interface material with a proper paste. So the question is: Does Dell use some kind of thermal paste between heatsink and CPU/GPU or thermal pads? Also would putting washers between the screws and springs improve pressure and therefore also temperatures?

I have no apply button (in XP) the quality of the external audio immediately changes when I click on the tick box. Bass appears and the volume is better when the PC spkr is disabled.

I also have no changes with this options (laptop speakers and my big headphones).
Heck even the "Enhancement" tab doesn't work any of the feature doesn't work with headphones and the laptop speakers even in combination of "PC Spk Mute".
