on the changelog, the thermal table was fairly high up, so they probably did some fairly major changes. and fan running more frequently is BETTER than it not running. you can handle the extra noise to keep the machine cooler.

on a different note, has anyone with either the e6500 or e6400 been able to successfully use a 180.xx series driver from laptopvideo2go.com? I can install all but one of them, but it seems to disable the fan sensor on the card, and after about an hour of intensive use, the gpu thinks it is at 102 deg C. I am 99% sure that it isnt actually getting that hot for a number of reasons. It always jumps to exactly the same temperature (102.0), and nothing but a hard shutdown will restore the temperature to a normal range.

here's hoping that the new BIOS might have fixed both issues.

I have no problem with the latest BIOS. And I do have the latest Geforce drivers (180) with my Quadro.

@GoodBytes: but doesn't that make the scratching even worse?

Another question concerning the Nvidia Quadro. According to Notebookcheck ( http://www.notebookcheck.com/NVIDIA-Quadro-NVS-160M.11747.0.html )
the GPU should have a GPU core clock of 580 MHz and a Memory Clock of 700 Mhz.. When I use TechPowerUp GPU it says on the Graphics Card tab: gpu clock: 580 MHz but only 400 MHz memory clock.
And when I go to the tab "Sensors" it says GPU Core Clock of 169 MHz and Memory Clock of 100 Mhz?! (all on power plan high performance)
    Any ideas?

There should be 2 versions of the card with slight differences. The 580MHz version is with GDDR3 graphics memory, but the 400MHz version uses DDR2, if i remember correctly.

For the GPU downclocking - try to disable PowerMizer in Nvidia control panel.

I got scratches on the edge of the screen, in the edges of the handrests and a bit directly over the closing mechanism.

@wrx: I got no Powermizer-Option in the Nvidia Control panel... :(

You have Quadro drivers installed? Not the geforce drivers from laptopvideo2go.

I also have scratches on the screen bezel, as long as the screen is ok I will live with it. I figure it is a laptop I carry all over so it is bound to be scratched sooner or later.
