It's better for heavy professional applications that use CUDA. nVidia knows this, and has no shame on their pricing.

but since your are more into gaming than cad i'd stick to the m5950
the 2000m and the m5950 should perform quite similar in gaming but of course
there is the lack of cuda and optimus support when it comes to the amd.

why dont you replace the hd aftermarket? its cheaper anyway

Sorry misunderstanding ;) I always calibrate with my Xrite i1pro. Question is if ips is done right and shows excellent performance for sRGB too - regarding Dell own software to switch to sRGB mode for standard applications. With 8 Bit resolution should be possible.

    Best, Walter

Just downloaded the touchpad driver for m6600 in hope to get a new one for my m6500 but the new touchpad is from Alps not Synaptics. I was not too pleased with the quality of Alps in my old m60. Would be interested in feedback how the new touchpad works.

havoctex, do either of the multi-touch panels have pressure sensitivity -or- are they compatible with Wacom pens?

    I'm assuming no to both.

    edit:

I might have answered my own question. I checked out the drivers and it looks like Dell is using some form of N-Trig device for the touch screen. It might have 256 levels of sensitivity (garbage compared to my Intuos) and a battery powered pen (lame).

It also looks like it is optically bonded to the LCD, so the panel should be the same on either option with the 6600 (good news).

    edit 2:

Just watched some N-trig videos online... looks like you can use other pens on the device, but you lose pressure sensitivity. So, you could use Wacom pens if you're not sculpting or in photoshop. This could be worth the upgrade.

    I can second that:)

IPS is pretty much 75% of the reason I bought it.

What is the best harddrive upgrade path? For instance, a lost of people are buying the min memory and then upgrading it through commercial options. What about hard drives? What is the cheapest way to get yourself a SSD or 2?

Anyone know the size of the power supply on the M4600? Kind of worried it might be huge.
