I appreciate the reply but the initial question was regarding a 9.5mm slot loading BD-ROM/BD-RE. I would actually prefer a tray load (easier to clean) and will probably buy the UJ-242A or UJ-232A, I just wish I didn't have to track down a bezel to match the M6600 :/

I'm not sure. The problem may be how the LCD itself handles requests for lower levels of brightness.

Not with the touchscreen, no. The AUO v5 panel should be matte when used without a touchscreen.

Not personally, No. I've heard good things about the AUO panel with 90% NTSC, but I haven't seen it myself and I believe it's glossy. There may be a matte equivalent.

I must have got a good one. Besides the single dead pixel, my M6600 runs great. No problems whatsoever. Dell is coming to replace the screen with either a LG or AUO. Anything is better than the Chi Mei that is currently inside. I bought mine from a guy off Ebay.

Insist on the AUO, you should be able to find the part number in this thread. If you currently have an LG try turning your brightness down all the way. Stare at the screen for a minute and see if the backlight flickers. It should be fairly noticeable.

Well, I finally have all my data moved over to the new laptop. I have an LCD that works properly in the AUO I swapped. My original problem is gone.

Now I notice that in the 'new' replacement laptop they neglected to include vPro, which was included in my original laptop. I would actually use this on occasion but I don't know if I want to make a big deal about it since this is day 35 and I finally have a working, stable laptop.

Does anyone know if vPro is a different board altogether? I suspect it is but it would be nice to know for sure.

I was wondering the same thing so after some looking I found this:

    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latxt2/en/ts/R939H.pdf

    Then this:

CAUTION: Ensure that you use the correct configuration-mode number. Once you have selected a configuration, you cannot change the management mode as this process is not reversible. If you make the wrong selection, your computer may not operate as it should.

Granted this is for a older model, but I it doesn't look promising.

UJ-242 (without A) is tray load 9.5mm used by Dell.

AUO v5 is half matt, not full.

Brightness parameters seems to be handled by BIOS/graphic card

again: if would be good to see some info from Dell side - for example we will try to improve this, this, this, we can't do this, this, this. Silence mean, that Dell doesn't care about these issues...

Is it a 9.5mm "ultra-slim" drive, or a regular 12.5mm "slim" drive? I was under the impression that the UJ-232(A) and UJ-242(A) were the only 9.5mm BD-RE drives currently available.
