    1) I dont know one

    2) Chi mei is not offered for new machines now

    3) Call them up and ask. Are you trying to get discount so you dont want to order online?

Good question Scott. I'm the kinda guy who likes his toys fully loaded. However, I don't really wanna pay for everything upfront. I don't mind upgrading most things myself later. So eventually no matter what system I get I'll max out the ram and the hhd space (including using msata) later. I also wouldn't mind upgrading to a blueray burner later as well. What I would like included in the system I purchase are things like

at least a 2720QM my card preference is AMD 8900. I won't accept the 3000Quattro, but I will the 4000.
1900x1080 screen or above (wouldn't mind touch screen, won't spring for IPS).
    Backlit Keyboard (as you know)
I would need the camera and mic.
the finger print reader would be cool. Not required.
    Silver is cool. Not required.

    2) Thx.

    3) Yes I am (but the discount seems paltry when you speak with them). Point is you cannot order the IPS online -- in any way, shape or form. Their online configurator has an error and you cannot order one online with the IPS option because of that error thats says you can't have a noise cancelling mic (i.e. you cannot unselect the mic).

I want to get the IPS screen, however, I am concerned that it seems so much less bright than the regular Full HD screen 210 vs 300 nits. It would be unfortunate to pay for the screen and have it appear less vibrant. I cannot stand dull laptop screens. I just have no way to guage whether 210 nits is bright enough (it seems low based on what other computers can offer these days).

Anybody order the AU Optronics separately and install it yourselves? How difficult is the process?

if it does have backlit, it should specifically tell you in system specs and at least in the order detail for SURE after you submit the order. You will actually be surprised how many outlet ones do not have backlit keyboard. The AMD choice over the 3000M is a fine one. 4000M needs to be oced to match raw performance of the AMD.

did you try selecting the webcam option? because the bezel might be attached with the lcd when the proprietaries ship and that may be reason why dell cant offer IPS with no webcam. If this is true, it makes perfect business sense since it will cost them more to have two screens just for one ips option. If you know what I mean. Try configuring WITH the webcam

I am surprised to hear that IPS is duller/less bright than the WLED. I know there are reviews out there, but are you finding this right? Either way, IPS screen should have much better quality/appearance overall.

External reviews like Bokeh's shows them to be close.

Not that Dell's website is always correct but if you pull up the "Help Choosing" button when ordering on the screens it shows the ips to be only 210 nits which is worse than many lower quality panels includiung dell's own normal full hd screen at 300 nits.

Do you have any other calibration program in the workstation?
Try disable the config in the Nvidia Control Panel and Intel Integrated Graphic, put windows config
