Finally ordered one after over a 1.5 years of waffling. Now to figure out which memory and msata to order.

    I got the 2760qm, m8900, 2gb ram, and 320gb hard drive combo for 1948 + tax.

Unfortunately no real deals available at the time.

It's what Dell's site says. Its quite the diffrence 210 vs 300.

However, when Bokeh did his measurements it was 287 vs 300 (I believe).

Yep, it pops right off, just two screws in the lower corners behind the circular covers. I've swapped LCDs several times, it only takes a matter of minutes when swapping like for like.

Edit: I have pics somewhere if needed.

Since I could not order the IPS screen because of Dell's site, is there a way of getting this in after the fact or is like a $1200 plus replacement part for the screen?

Yep I too use Trueimage Home 2012. The msata I have ordered is only 30GB and I was considering putting my pagefile on it,although a lot of SSD users would wince at the thought. I was thinking of leaving the OS on the 7200 drive and reinstalling my heavier apps like VMware, Sony Vegas, and Photoshop Elements 10 including the pagefile. Of what I have read about pagefiles I think with 16GB ram the pagefile will not be used much anyway so I have only created a 2GB on c: and 4GB on D: (5400 spin). I am waiting for 2-3TB 2.5 drives arrive then I will replace my 1TB with one of those and fit a 256GB SSD in C:. I will then backup daily the SSD to the d:. I am saving for the SSD as I cannot afford it at the moment. I already have one but I put it in my 3XS system as it is more important as that machine is running the 3D modelling apps.
HaHa I just looked at my suppliers site and they are now showing 512 SSD OCZ Petrol 512GB SATA III SSD for 533UKP. I think I will wait a couple of weeks to give them a chance to drop below 100UKP :)

You could always return/rebuy if you are within 21 days.

seems like my brightness control issue has to do with nvidia drivers. My drivers crashed and I had to reinstall the nvidia drivers and now the brightness control works fine.. really wierd.

Not a bad idea. Not that I really want to do that but I did need a machine right away.

Any recommendations on memory, msata and SSD drives for the beast?

I am using a G.Skill 16Gb 1600 Mhz and it work really well with M6600, 7.8 memory WEI. I will buy a Samsung 830 256Gb this month, reading some reviews and it looks like one of the best and more reliable SSD on the market.
    M-Sata I recommend the Bullet Proof 128Gb

Ditto on the G.SKill memory. Crucial, Samsung or Intel on the SSD.
