M6600 Owners Thread

It's a trim piece and 5 screws, I don't think it warrants a tech.

 

It's not the screws that I am worried about. It's plastics and how it snaps in/out of place. You need to do it a few times before to know the right amount of pressure. Else it may snap wrongly.

 

That's true, but you can always call Dell and have them send you a new one. I called and told them one of my tabs on the keyboard bezel was kind of weakening, and they sent me a new one the next day. It's just a cheap piece of plastic, so I highly doubt it would be that big of a deal.

 

An incident on the plastic snapping in/out happened to me before with a brand new CoolerMaster USP Casing (Medium Tower) for home gaming 2 years ago. The plastic latch that functions as a grip snaps off (the wrong way) on day-2, when I opened the case for the 2nd time.

More on the downtime waiting for parts and schedule time. I would rather have a machine that does not go in to the service centre for 5 years.

The only machines I know can last 5 or more years, plus 1-2 drops down d stairs without visiting the hospital is an IBM (not too sure about Lenovo now).

Most manufacturers just don't make machines of quality like they used to.

Which is why in my opinion Dell is the right choice, especially in Asia. Probably the one and only manufacturer that handles the customer directly when it comes to after sales.

Ended up being after taxes 4100. I will upgrade the ram and add a 256gb SSD I have here.

 

It's incredibly easy. I would be extremely surprised if someone broke the trim piece during removal.

All I would do different is call them up and see if they will give you 2 x 4GB instead of 4 x 2GB. If you plan on putting 16GB in this will save you a small amount of money. If you plan on maxing it out at 32GB then of course it's of no consequence.

 

It was the same price either way. At least with this I know all 4 slots work fine. So was it a good deal??

It's a great deal if compared to HP, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Sony and Lenovo.

One thing good is dell does not void your warranty if you upgrade yourself. Unlike others, they will void your warranty faster than you can explain. Which gets more extreme when the product is serviced directly by local distributors.

HP Elitebook is almost 30% more expensive with these specs.

Anybody know why you can't purchase the touchscreen with these spec? Was told it could not be configured this way... Any thoughts or did the rep not know what he was talking about ? Here is my build any thoughts welcomed. Mostly work with adobe master suite Thanks!
