    V.4 is glossy (glare) finish
    V.5 is matte (anti-glare) finish

Having both, I can assure you that there are differences between the two. The v.5 is a very nice matte [non-IPS] panel and not heavy coated like the CMO panels, but I would not say it is any less matte than the LG panel or similar. The V.4 (D P/N X919N) has a great 93% color gamut and the glossy/glare finish is partially the reason for this. The V.5 is rated at 72%. Both flavors of the panel are available via third parties if you look hard enough.

    Scott-

Since the mSATA card slot is on the SATA-II bus and the WWAN/GPS slot is on the hybrid PCI/USB bus, you CAN use both at the same time regardless of what you heard/read.

    Scott-

В виду того что гнездо для платы mSATA на шине SATA-II и шлиц WWAN/GPS на шине гибрида PCI/USB, вы МОЖЕТЕ использовать оба в тоже время независимо от чего вы услышали/прочитано.

I get about 4 to 4.5 hours with Optimus enabled using the 97w battery. This is using MS Office 2010, IE 9.0, and Adobe CS5.

The speakers are about the same as the M6500 - not the best or worse I have used. They do get the job done and headphones are always an option. The HP systems have better speakers and the Dell XPS-17 L702x has the best consumer grade audio I have experienced.

Strange thing it only says 6-bit per primary color from hwinfo utility. I thought the touch screen panel with the Premier Color software installed is a 10-bit per primary color.

Monitor Name: AU Optronics B173HW01 V5
    Mine is Dell P/N: H8D3K

No, 99% of the 60Hz panels are still 6bit unless you go IPS or similar technology that supports 10bit and faster refresh rates.

I get 7-8 hours on battery (machine & presumably battery are about 8 months old) when using only the integrated graphics to surf the web, answer email, use word & excel, and other office stuff. My wifi connects at N speeds. I keep my brightness around the 40% mark which is comfortable for me. I'm not sure how much it effects power consumption but I have a Crucial M4 SSD for the os & apps & a 7200 rpm, 750gb drive in the second slot which I use to store my data. I also have 16GB of 1600mhz ram and bluetooth is normally off.

If I unplug with a full charge and fire up photoshop, permier pro or some other app that I have set to use the quadro 3000m my battery life is in the 2-3 hour range.

I don't say, that V5 is glare. I say only, that V5 is not full matt and it seems to be confirmed not only by me.

When you will go into store with LCDs/laptops, you will see, that in 100% matt displays you don't see any reflexes even from angles and when you look directly you will see only picture (not you).

Many people seems to agree, that glare displays are selected by new users or people, who don't have other choice and matt displays are selected by pros (you can find such opinion in many places). I agree with it - full matt is like Porsche/Ferrari/Bugatti/Corvetta, half matt is like medium class car only and glare is very problematic.

I could pay extra Euro for full matt, but currently it seems, that Dell doesn't offer it. This is not definitely "Premium" in my opinion.

When you will connect it with some other screen issues, you will see, that company has got room for improvements in this area. It's not too much todo here (technology and solutions are known and relative cheap), but these are critical things and it's suprise for me, that they haven't been fixed. That's all I can say.

    Thanks for that.

Hmmm. I keep coming back to the XPS 15 or 17 for this. What puts me off is the generall abysmal experience I've had with every XPS notebook thus far.

What would you say my better choice is? An XPS 15/17 with switching or the M6600 with optimus? Money isn't really an issue, but suitability for role is.
