Tom, I have confirmed this with Dell Level 2 Workstation Engineers and their Sales - 3 days ago.

To achieve 32GB, the max we can have is 1333mhz per bank/stick. Don't fall into the dealer's trap. They may not be well informed as well. They only know one thing like all car sales man. Sell-sell-sell. They don't care about your budget or function. They smell only opportunity to sell. If you say, you run vmware. Their respond will be - "oh go for 32GBRAM....we have 32GB 1600mhz kit of 4x8Gb, will take one week to order". Most don't notice the last part of the sentance.

32GB 1333Mhz is a chipset limitation, you cannot get 1600Mhz for 32GB on SB.

Random question: I have an empty slot that is normally reserved for WWAN, could I stick another mSata in there?

Hello all..this is my first post and I'm guessing dell has had many returned machines.

A lot of people seem to have problems with outlet machines that have been so called reworked.

My refurbished m6600 tuned up on the 5/3/2012 with two fans that ran at 100% speed all of the time and it took 7-8 mins to load windows.

Next day I had a new motherboard 3000m video card and a new fan fitted. I ran my game Crysis 2 for 5 mins and it worked great. When I tried later that day you cant even play it on the lowest setting. As soon as the machine is given any hard work both fans come on and hunt.. it sounds like a train.. I'm guessing that they all don't make thie noise. I have got dell to exchange it with a machine costing more with less ram... Don't know how that works as all specs are the same. I know have to wait 20 days for the new machine I picked from the outlet. I.don't understand this bit. If its been refurbished and on.the outlet for sell why does.my order say in production and its going to take 2 weeks longer than the.first one they.sent me..

I would really just like to know if the fans hunt and that graphics card is that crap at games like crysis2 on low settings. This is my real question.. I.would also love to hear all the faults people have had just from the outlets..

    Thanks all...

Thank you, David! To be on the safe side, I'll ask my dealer to send me 4x8GB 1333MHz memory.

Thank you for the information! My Dell Sales representative told me (when I ordered the M6600) that 4x8GB @ 1600MHz would work. Then I read in this forum that in fact it does not work. I contacted Dell Support and the lady said, "yes, M6600 is one of the few machines that can handle 32GB @ 1600 MHz". She called back an hour later and told me that she is not 100% sure whether it works or not. And another call 15 minutes later to inform me that it does not work. Oh boy...

To be on the safe side, I'll use a 4x8GB 1333MHz chipset :)

    Thanks again!

Of coz it will work. You will only pay for a 1600mhz 4x8GB and use it as 1333mhz due to the cap. Coz My Dell sales also said yes it will "work". Noticed the double quotes. I requested clearly to confirm with the Level 2 engineers of Precision, then only I get the "real" truth".

    Dell quoted me for MYR3,256 (USD1050) with 3.1 conversion MYR-USD for 16GB (2x8GB) 1333Mhz

It's a RIP off. Four times more expensive than even a Crucial 1600mhz C10!

Even US Dell is selling at USD249.99 per 8GB stick of 1333mhz.
