It is much weaker than the GTX460M as it uses GDDR3 rather than GDDR5 for the GTX460M.

    GDDR5 is faster than GDDR3.

They are approximately equal (in the games).
In the synthetic tests Quadro slightly faster in 3dmark 2006, 460gtx slightly faster in 3dmark 2011 and Vantage.
In games, I think, the difference will not notice.

    But! :)
Do not forget about the high overclocking potential of 3000m. :D

    Both cards use GDDR5.
In 460gtx frequencies higher, in Quadro more shaders.

Oups sorry, really thought the 3000M was using GDDR3 instead of GDDR5! My mistake!

I suppose it overclocks well like its old brotha 4000M! The GTX460M was a good o/cing gpu though

Ok, I just ordered my M6600, and it will be here in 2 days. I wanted to run my configuration by the forum and see what everyone thinks.

My uses for the laptop will be a complete desktop replacement for gaming, multiple vm workstation for network scenarios and ethical hacking, and programming for school assignments.

The main reason I'm switching is because I want to take advantage of the three year lifecycle via the warranty from Dell, I'm sick of having to upgrade my desktop every 6 months if something goes out, and also have the ability to have my home environment with me when i travel.

Enough said, here's my build (* denotes upgrades done myself):

    i7-2760QM
    *16gb (4x4) Kingston PnP 1866Mhz
    *2x 128gb Plextor M3 Pro's in RAID 0
    Firepro m8900 2gb DDR5
    Wideview 1080p Screen

I chose the plextor's due to having the marvell controller and a 5 year warranty, as well as high write speeds.

The Kingston memory I decided to get after finding out from a friend with an m4600 that the PnP feature does work and auto configures to 1866mhz in the precision BIOS.

I decided on the firepro (stock) as it seemed to be the best for casual gaming, and although I do some design work I would never need all the CUDA features the quadros have.

I chose the i7 2760 mostly because I couldn't afford/justify anything more expensive but needed a quad core.

    Thoughts?

If I order the M6600 with just a single 320GB HDD, Will the cables/caddy be there for me to install my own Cruical M4 SATA 3 SSD as the primary and move the 320GB drive to the second bay for just storage?

    Thanks
